CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I live in Portland during the school year for college, and it is a pretty nice city, very big. there is lots to do so you should never get bored, and the transportation system is amazing. I don't have a car, but i can usually get to where i want to go by bumming a ride from a friend or taking the bus.

If you're still looking...
Expensive places:
Anywhere downtown. Pearl, SW, riverfront condos...not a place suitable for a young woman imo.
Lake Oswego
Laurelhurst
Lent
Sellwood, but it would be worth considering.
Cheaper places:
Anywhere off 82nd, mind you, this is a prostitution area, so it may not be the best...
North Portland (stay AWAY from the Arbor Lodge neighborhood and anything near MLK)
Mt Tabor (decent, near a private Christian college)
Cully Neighborhood (some areas are cheap, some not.)
Grr places with mixed prices:
BEAVERTON AND HILLSBORO. I hate those places. Drivers are bleh, tend to hit small Hondas at stop lights, and I personally don't care for the people who flock to the areas.
Don't live near Marine Drive...traffic, decent crime.
Max lines attract crime. ESPECIALLY fareless zones. Trash everywhere.
Transportation: Almost anywhere you live with have access to Tri-met or the Max. Traffic between 3 and 7...you might as well walk.
