  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

please help save a marriage by some kind of porn blocker. I can't pay for it and can't have him detect it. thank you
well.. if he isnt able to goto the websites anymore he may wonder whats up. You can help yourself by blocking it on the internet explorer.

click tools, then internet options, then content, then click enable, set up a password he cant guess then select the level of content you want to block. make sure you save the password. It doesnt always do the best job but its somethin, and its free.

If the person knows anything about tech you can bypass jsut about any blocker. Most of them (the free ones at least) are easily hacked, deleted or bypassed. THe only way to get rid of the problem is to either cut the internet access entirely or have something that monitors the computer directly as that way you can tellif they are bypassing it.

Gives information on some of the leading censorship software and why they suck so much. It's really kind of frightening actually. Some of them come with lists of domains that are specifically listed (i.e. someone had to look at the site and enter it into the list), in many of those the lists are encrypted and cannot be edited (which stinks if you want to visit a certain site that's on it), and have perfectly benign sites on it.

not really, I have learned from school going into dos and typing
ping www.site.com then thyping in the ip adress in the adress bar will take you to sites on block list like that. They block the domain not the meta words.

And to clarify no I don't lok at porn at school, I had to do a project on religon and many religons deemed newage or ocult like are blocked.

Most of them you can either get rid of through useing dos prompt and deleting them or editing the registry or using the IP bypass as desribed already. There are to many ways around them and while they may get more and more difficult they are all bypassable somehow. Thats the problem with all of htem, especially the free ones.

seebs,
There really aren't. Things like NetNanny are generally both incompetent and evil. For instance, most of them will flag any site critical of their companies as fitting every negative category there is.

(This is from Starcrystal ~ forgot I was still logged in! Woops  , L.S.)

Amen to that! A couple nights ago we installed a Netnanny 5 because we started getting 2 or 3 pop-ups to adult links. Well, those popups continued undaunted by the Netnanny. However Netnanny DID block the following: Site Counters, Christian ads at the top of our tripod sites. On occasion it blocked our own web pages! It blocked our christian forum. We could not view any of the pics on many web pages, mostly nature photos!
After battling for over an hour during which time I actually cussed (And I don't swear) I finally found a way to restore our computer to the time prior to installation of the Netnanny. I also have received 4 - 5 "Netnanny Newsletters" automatically delivered to my e-mail every day. During my attempts at uninstalling the Netnany, I kept getting Netnanny pop-ups that were continual, no matter what I did, and I couldn't even get into any sites.

All that said, I agree Netnanny is evil and has hidden agends. Someone should sue them for their deception. I'm sure there are other options. we just installed a free pop up blocker through Google and its worked so far. Now we have to battle to get our 29.95 refunded for the Netnany that proved totally useless.

BOYCOTT NETNANNY!
