• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

And yes, more people are alive today than have ever lived before, thank goodness.
Actually, that is incorrect. The current population is roughly equivalent to the number of people who have lived in the past 6,000 years. However, most demographers put the number of people who have died at roughly 60 billion. So the current population is about a tenth of the number of people who have died.

Being real, obviously. Whatever gave you the impression that I was giving up on this problem?

Your inability to accept that there could be a chance that academia is completely wrong. The inability to look past the brainwashing and social engineering.

The entire population of the world can fit snuggly into the state of Texas with room to spare, so don't give me that bull.

There is so much waste and ineffeciency in third world countries that you cannot use them as an example of overpopulation with a clear conscience.
that would make it a tight squeeze..

Yeah. I'm brainwashed into thinking that a world population of 6.4 billion, which is growing by roughly 80 million a year is going to be a problem in the foreseeable future. Also, I have blind faith in academia.

Dude, get the plank out of your own eye. Denial solves nothing.

Hydra, no need to bother yourself. What i understood, these people think that SPACE is the main issue, and not resources. They think because you can fill the world with 100 Billion people, it means you can feed them too.. This is the main problem, you are using logic and knowledge about it, they are repeating things they have been indoctrinated.

Apparently, you didn't read the rest of my other post in which I explicitly pointed out that the rest of the US would be open for growing food, etc., as well as the rest of the world.

You guys are using logic? I'm sorry, but it seems to me that you are using over-emotional ultra-liberal doom-and-gloom academia nonsense instead. Prove that you haven't been indoctrinated by the education system and your god of Science.

Liberal?

I am an atheist, so i have no "god of Science". And indoctrination implies learning without question it, such as religion (for example), and the school system is based on questioning.

Now, its around 6,5 Billion people. Tell me, how come most MOST of them have it badly, and in western viewpoint, REALLY BAD... Because, you stated, several times now, that we have the resourcers.. So....... where are they ?

Penumbra, I'm a Christian, and a conservative one at that, and I think your idea is...rather farfetched and unrealistic.

Constance

Of course it is unrealistic, I never said it was true. It is merely an illustration to break people out of the rigid thinking that our education system has bestowed upon them.

Gotta love the news services...

BAck to being more in line with the topic, one would guess that when we reach the point of "filling the Earth" God will do something about it, whether it is to issue forth a commandment to cease populating the planet, or make us less fertile or something like that... As far as one knows we have yet to reach that point.

Interesting. But with the coming mass destruction predicted in Revelation, I don't know why I even bother posting here... the world population will be decimated. ;)

It is because of our concern for dwindiling (sp?) resources that the wife and I have decided not to have more than eight kids (kid#4 on the way).

cheers

You can afford to provide a good life for 8 children?!? You must be pretty well off. I mean to pay for food and clothing alone much less a college education which is becoming almost necessary to "succeed" in life.

And I hope you don't sincerely believe that God will save us from overpopulating the earth. He's never saved us from any plagues or famines before? In fact the largest world disaster ever he personally caused.
