  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"Although, to be fair, you can pull this link from the Episcopal Church's website, which is a nice statement on evolution being a perfectly acceptable stand."

This is a good link and a good essay they have posted for their official position. Thanks.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has condemned the teaching of creationism in schools. In an interview with Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger, Dr Rowan Williams said the Biblical creation stories do not belong in the same category as evolutionary theory.
Actually I heard that the Anglican Church and the Roman Catholic Church made a joint declaration opposing the teaching of creationism in UK schools.
Of course both churches favor a critical contextualist approach to scripture not the literalist approach of fundies.
And are in the UK.
The problem is that the UK exported those low church separatist protestants literalist Bible nutters to the USA and they have hardly changed since the XVII century. And breed like crazy.

I don't think you know your religious history, but I appreciate your comment about the contextualist approach.

Not quite true, but yes, the USA has more than its fair share of religious fundy nutters, a bit like the Middle East.

i.e. different creed, same lunacy
