JohnR7 said:There are plenty of observed facts in the Bible. Why do people deny that. For example, Moses says to use pure oil in your lamp.
Exodus 27:20
"And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually.
Except that nobody's denying that the Bible has a lot of good commonsense advice -- but that's all it is.
Pure Oil --> God?
Now there is no doubt that there is some sort of symbolic meaning to this passage, about our purity before God. But there is also no doubt that pure oil will burn cleaner and you will not have to clean the lamp as often.
No doubt? There's plenty of doubt! This may very well be some practical advice for people to live their day-to-day lives -- the burden is on you to prove it has some deeper meaning.
As Freud (whom you hate with such a passion) once said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
Similarly, sometimes a lamp is just a lamp.
This is a simple truth that science can verify and the Bible is FILLED with them. Why do people deny this and then expect me to believe that they know the truth?
Pure oil burns better than oil with a lot of garbage in it. Is this the best you can base your faith on, Johhny?
