So the act itself is irrelevant -- only obedience matters.

Christianity is, at its root, a deontological philosophy, and that is what is classically considered the "tough issue" for a deontological philosophy.

But it's only a tough issue for non-deontologists. For deotologists, there are two areas to be careful about: 1) Making sure one has correctly identified to whom duty is owed, 2) Making sure one has correctly identifed the duty that is owed.

Now, the military also operates by a deontological philosophy, so soldiers face the same problems--and work them out without difficulty in 99.44% of situations. It's not that hard in practice for either soldiers or Christians.

We make life on earth better by telling people the gospel. But the goal is not to 'make life on earth better,' it is to lead people to an infinite duration of unspeakable joy in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

This is true. It is not the mission of the Christian to "fix the Roman empire." It was not recognized as the mission in the first century (which is why, for instance, we don't see Paul railing at Felix against Roman slavery), and it's still not the mission of the Church.

They are working to look good in front of other people, and have no good use for the poor's spiritual condition, but we feed them outwardly, so that they will listen and believe when we feed them spiritually."

So you give them food to butter them up for your little sales pitch? You may not no theology but at least you've got marketing down.;)

I can't see the video... but what's the harm in calling for one world religion? Don't exclusivist religions like Christianity and Islam call for such a thing anyway? Not that's ever going to be possible, but still.

Well obviously because it is the WRONG religion. As an outside observer it is interesting that people can be so convinced that minor differences seem so important in who does or does not get to heaven.

Yes that's right kidwboro...Tell people the gospel so that they may know what Life truly is. We are here to serve Him with our whole hearts and lead others to Him. That they may receive a joy and peace that far outweighs anything this world can offer.

I thought one world religion was what you bible thumpin' theocratic Jesus freaks wanted... Oh oh, but if it's not your particular flavor of faith then suddenly it's a DEMONIC TAKEOVER, eh?

What about when Pat Robertson or Billy Graham calls for a worldwide Christian takeover? Is it ok then?

Your view is so myopic it's just unbelievable.

We are Jesus freaks because we are obsessed with eternal life. Try the world out for yourself, you will only find temporary satisfaction, and then starvation. With Jesus, you will experience what He calls "abundance," and your soul will never starve.

Life here on earth lasts a very short time. Time flies faster than we can imagine. Before we know it, we are gone. Jesus came that we might have eternal life. He is invisible, yet he can fill your soul in ways you never imagined.

The abundance he has, is available to anyone who desires it. You don't have to be a special kind of person to obtain it. The invitation is open to all. Come as you are, and he will receive you. You won't regret it.

You don't have to do anything physical. It can be as simple as a prayer, even a silent prayer. As long as you are sincere in your prayers to him, he will receive you.

So what you're saying is you love Jesus because you want to live forever?

It's a bit strange calling Christians 'theocratic', when Christianity is one of the least legalistic religions out there, and also when Christians established secular democracies over theocracies.

Christianity is an evangelising faith; therefore, it's not surprising that many Christians want to see a 'worldwide takeover' (whatever that means).

Let me put it this way. I love Jesus because he first loved me.
I am only capable of loving someone when they first love me.
As the Scriptures say:
We love him, because he first loved us. [1 John 4:19]

Trying to have a unified Christianity is like going on Myspace or MeetMe to escape pedophiles, it just doesn't happen.

Of course I want it to happen, then we can have a universal and have what Jesus intended - one religon, one diety, and a universal belief system that (hopefully) encompasses better views versus the older Abrahamic OT views. Not to mention people won't be divided in Christianity and how to answer certain questions without clawing at each other gullies.
