Hey, go easy on the USAF, we aren't all lazy chairforce armchair warriors!

Well, not the cops anyway.

The Army has it's claim to fame; the Airborne Rangers, the Green Berets.
The world knows the Navy Seals; life of danger, men of steel
The Corps have their elite too; Recon Patrol, the proud, the few
But when it comes to us, not much is heard; we're just the cops who guard the birds.
In Vietnam, through toil and strife, we gave it all, our hearts, our life.
A page in history, a chapter in time; we fought for freedom, yours and mine.
We stayed vigilant through cold and rain, and bear the fatigue, hardship, and pain
This piece of ground, we will defend, side by side `til the bitter end.
So fear not pilot, you can fly all day, this base is guarded by the Blue Beret.

Amen to that, we've only got Combat Weather at Channel Islands. But none of the above ever have to prove themselves, cops just get the short end of the stick and are left so unappreciated. :o

You guys do good work, especially with the ops tempo being what it is for you right now... And it doesn't look like it'll be getting much better. I think people have the idea that you "just" sit at the gates and guard the fences and planes, but now that you're taking over some of the roles the Army traditionally held, I think perceptions will start to change from "sky cops' to combatants in the eyes of your average Airman.

Well, I guess what ticks me off is the attitude the Army and Marines have towards us. I do agree that the fact that now we are taking on traditional combatant roles is a very positive step, most airmen either appreciate us or think we're just jerks, either is a positive for me.

Being a jerk has it's finer points, like when that guy who talked crap about you turns without using his blinker or is 10 mph above the outrageously low base speed limit.

Ok so I'm not gonna lie I even make fun of the mps on base. But then again I'm a crew cheif so I kinda make fun of everyone. I am however an auggie wich is kinda cool I guess I do have respect for yall though.

mmmm word! everyone makes fun of the air force and unjustly so in my opinion. being in the military is NOT easy, no matter what your branch/job is.

my kindasorta boyfriend is a MP in the air force and while he likes his job, i feel bad for him especially since he's in iraq. he works like 12 hour shifts in full gear in the sun all day. it's just not an easy job and i respect it.

Well we all joke that Army grunts are dumb as bricks, so all is fair I guess. I used to screw with the Army all the time in Qatar.

Pfft, maybe for the rest of the fobbits. The Cop shop is alot different, we're more like an intelligent det of the Army on every USAF base. I've seen what the folks at the MPF call "Work" and it reminds me of running a corporation more than the military.
