  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm fairly fed up with politics. The amount of money and time that peope put into it is ridiculous. Our government will never be perfect and will never have perfect leaders. The only successful government will be that of Jesus Christ when he rules in the Millenial Kingdom.

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. You see, I heard on the news the other day about a certain candidate who had already raised $8 million for his campaign to become mayor. The candidates in my state and all over the country have constantly bashed each other. They've wasted so much money and time slandering one another instead of focusing on the issues they need to address.

If people would take the money and passion they put into politics and put it into the service of our Lord, our world might be a better place. I see many Christians get worked up about politics and bash the other side. Why? One candidate wins, serves 1 or 2 terms, then someone else serves. Nothing changes.

May we always put our Lord and Savior first in our lives. Let's not let politics destroy frienships and fellowship. Let's not allow ourselves to become bitter if the opposing candidate wins the election. Let's show the world that Christians are loving people.

Again, I hope I haven't offended anyone. I fought in Iraq so that everyone could go out and vote. I'm just so annoyed that so much fighting and bickering and slandering has been going on amongst all party lines.

I'm right there with you two. My hope is not found in any candidate or party, but in Christ alone. About six years or so ago I decided to drop my political party affiliation. I still believed the same things, but not having that political affiliation allowed me to interact better with my coworkers. It just took down barriers that really didn't need to be there. Anyway, I can't wait for the Kingdom to come!

I can't vote cause in order to vote (in my opinion) I must first know where the candidates stand, and who they are. Of course I start looking into it and then I become obsessed and getting angry over what the other side is doing etc. So I stay out. I lose focus when I get into politics and start losing my mind in it. Until I can control that, I won't vote.

Your comment did not offend me in the slightest. In fact, I get a little annoyed at times at other fellow Christians (and I guess I shouldn't, just taking it for what it is) when they start labeling another Christian's walk by their party affiliation. Republicans are always considered "holy" and "moral" while Democrats (and sometimes other parties that are not strictly Republican) are "lukewarm", have little to no concern for morals, and pretty much no better than a common heathen. It has been made these days to the point where many in the church have to hide their political affiliation for fear they will be ostracized by the church as a whole, merely for being associated with the "wrong" party. That's sad, and it shouldn't be that way.

I am a nonpartisan because of what I have observed in both main parties (and some of the third parties as well) -- finding that there are strengths and weaknesses connected with all of politics no matter what the party. As for my own personal stances, I am pretty much a conservative when it comes to many of the social issues and sanctity of life, while in matters such as health care and economy I am probably moderate-on-the-brink-of-being-liberal. Weighing those in with other issues of concern to me (as well as throwing out others about which I am indifferent) give me such a mixed bag that I just can't identify with one party.

And quite frankly, there are times when I just don't understand politics.
