Polar Bear Swim anyone?

So did anyone involve themselves in the oh-so-nutty ritual of the Polar Bear swim this year?
We went to be part of the many WITNESSES who watched hordes of people in their skivvies go barreling down a rocky beach and into the freezing icy waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Just curious if there are any crazies here who did just the same....

all the MORE reason to do it, no? hehehe
besides, it doesn't require an ocean - it does call for a body of water, but your bathtub won't do it, I think it has to be room enough for at least two other friends. Remeber people do this sort of thing in the masses, surely you must have a lake or a river, even a POOL nearby?

I've never done it, mostly because I am not a morning person, and I am usually up late until the wee hours of Jan 1st.

I think it's fun seeing the others do it though! Congrats to all those brave souls!

Wanna know the sad bit about it? I noticed that the majority of folks out there were aged about 45+ yrs.

Did it in 1981, at the age of 10, in Resolute Bay NT. It was snowing and an ice flow was in. Arctic Ocean, beat that!

i always swim in voths pool in augest! ha! well, its enough to make you turn blue and all your outta organs to scrival up and nearly fall off...

went to winnipeg beach. that was cold this year...also bird river...i live in cold water...

I saw a article in the paper about it, but didn't do it. I like my warmth!
