That's just...bizarre. Have they not heard of the film?
You were afraid of systemic problems. And systemic problems need to be solved systematically. In democratic countries (like the USA), you need to hope that the democratic processes (like elections) will find a good solution.
That's acceptable advice provided one has the resources.
They get paid more than we do because the legal atmosphere is completely different. How people become citizens for example is way different than in North America. They already get payed more than we do, have more time off and better benefits. Now they are only have to work 6 hours??? That's bad, but it could get worse. I don't know how it will go in Poland, but there are some jobs that take more than 6 hours to get anything done and so the workers stay on for the original 8 hours and get two hours of overtime every day. Sounds like Poland may be in line for some good old American regime change.
It isn’t dependent on resources. It relies on the willingness to look for solutions and put a plan in action instead of waiting for answers. Which may require work and less free time for that layer of security. Each person must decide the level of uncertainty they‘re willing to accept.

Not working in a specific paid job does not equal idleness, though. Americans are used to work and commute to work and back so much that they sometimes do not know what free time even means or what to do with it.
Yes, that is my hope. That when automation takes care of the robot-like job positions, people can invest their time into something that is actually fulfilling. Either as another job or even as an unpaid free time activity, if they will be financially safe.If the values of our society were to shift (in the US), alot of people could work, or volunteer, in jobs like nursing, healthcare, or mental health. While many of the tech broligarchs currently in control of our society will never understand this, a robot can never bring the sense of human presence of an actual human being. And human presence is often what is most lacking in American life. It's no wonder American struggle with so much drug addiction and mental pathologies.
Just like now but with fewer job opportunities for most people to secure financial safety.Yes, that is my hope. The financial safety of general population should be created by the automation. With good laws and social system.Just like now but with fewer job opportunities for most people to secure financial safety.

You don't believe in the power of AI..?Not in the US baring a radical reordering of things which I don’t expect. No other wave of automation has caused that outcome, why would this one?
To displace people from jobs, sure. You don't believe in the power of AI..?
What does that have to do with it? In any case there are three countries in North America which have different immigration policies. They get paid more than we do because the legal atmosphere is completely different. How people become citizens for example is way different than in North America.
At which point, big change is inevitable. Big, big change. To displace people from jobs, sure.
I see no reason it would usher in a better day for those who are displaced. At which point, big change is inevitable. Big, big change.
Everyone will need to wear an "effort" calculating wristband while donating their work-time. After 50 kilojoules of effort per year, you will have earned your UBI... If you want more, you can get more, but you have to donate at least 50 to be included in the society.I see no reason it would usher in a better day for those who are displaced.
I do not live in the US. People in the US will need to find solutions for the US problems (or get an inspiration from abroad). Not in the US baring a radical reordering of things which I don’t expect. No other wave of automation has caused that outcome, why would this one?
That's an interesting theory of work you have there. How many occupations put in that much physical work in a year?Everyone will need to wear an "effort" calculating wristband while donating their work-time. After 50 kilojoules of effort per year, you will have earned your UBI... If you want more, you can get more, but you have to donate at least 50 to be included in the society.
...The robots do the rest.
Ah, fantasy. A good escape.Everyone will need to wear an "effort" calculating wristband while donating their work-time. After 50 kilojoules of effort per year, you will have earned your UBI... If you want more, you can get more, but you have to donate at least 50 to be included in the society.

In fairness, we are doing that too in our household. Nothing grandiose, just taking steps quietly to prepare to bug-out if we discern that's what has to be done. Probably move north to some place that doesn't have an economy based on selling empty dreams and illusions, where something like the fabric of a human scale community can still be built.
