  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If the Bible meant grape juice, it would say grape juice.
And if It meant rapture, It would say rapture ...

And if It meant trinity, It would say trinity ...

And if It meant ...

You're not proving your point. The Bible says wine, not grape juice.

You're my kid of guy!

The Bible says it, that settles it, eh? ;)

For the record, when I tell my wife to get us some wine, she knows just what I mean.

For a guy who routinely says "The Bible says it, that settles it", you really enjoy having arguments about what the Bible says.

And for the record, I don't really care. Your grammatical idiosyncrasies do not change the fact that the Bible clearly says, in Hebrew, Greek, English, French, German and all of the other languages it's written in, wine not grape juice.

Although I will admit that it is fun to have you back.

A bit of a silly argument. Those words did not exist when the NT was written as those concepts were only articulated later based on it. However, wine was drunk as was juice and they clearly opted for wine.

Simple fact: the phrase "grape juice" does not appear in the NT, but the word "wine" does.

I don't know. With my sweet tooth, I prefer sugar to alcohol - cheaper too. Rots my teeth of course.

Alas, it is not about preference for me...women won't have me, so I've plenty of money for both. heh.

As I understand it, the word "grape juice" didn't exist either; and God's choice word for it was "wine."

Over time, "wine" as grape juice fell out of use and became only the fermented kind.

Equivalent words would be "queer" and "[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]."

ETA: Okay, skip that second example.

Once legitimate words, but then hijacked and now considered perjorative.

When I first joined here, "Arab phone" was a legitimate entry in Wikipedia, and I used it a lot.

But it was removed from Wikipedia, and when I use it now, newbies don't know what I'm talking about.

Did "grape juice" exist when the KJV was written?
