It just gets on my nerves when people call the wrong number and assume it is the correct one. I answer the phone and the first thing I hear is "whatcha doin'?" from a voice I don't really recognize and I don't say anything and then they say "Teresa?" Nobody named Teresa lives at this house! You'd think if they know a person that well that they'd know their phone number!

I want to know why John Nelson keeps giving my number out as his number. I get calls from credit card companies, political affiliations, solicitors etc all asking for him and I don't know him from Adam. I wish he would quit doing that.

AAAAHHHH!!! You get it too?

You take my phone, transpose two digits, and you get a convience store... I get several calls every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday morning asking for the winning lottery numbers!

I see that as an opportunity to have some fun with people. You could say What are your numbers? after they read them off say congratulations and hang up. It will have them thinking they won the stinking jackpot and make fools of themselves. ^_^

I listed our number as our last name and the first initial of my name- J. We keep getting calls for a Jeremiah and a Juanita, who both have bills that are in collection. The collector's must go through the last name in the phone book and look for ones with the same first initial. It's irritating when you explain they do not have the right number but they call the next day during dinner, regardless.

We constantly get calls for Wal-Mart and the father at the chapel at Martin De Poress here in Lake Charles.

We get all kinds of wrong numbers for OTHER people. I even get wrong numbers on my CELL PHONE and that's really irritating! There's one lady who always calls and when I call back, she has no idea she's called me!

We also once got a call asking "is this the bus station?"

Well, um, actually, they were talking about telemarketers, but when I was in Peer Ministry training, I was told to "WHEAT" them. It means talking to get to know somebody and WHEAT stands for certain different topics.

Where - Where are you from?
Hobbies - What do you like to do?
E
A
Travel - Have you ever been to ______. Did you like it?

I've forgotten the E and the A at the moment, but I do have it at home. I'm at the library right now, though.

The last US congressional election, my husband kept getting calls from the different congressional candidates' election committee on both sides (Gephardt was the democratic, by the way). They were always female, and they wouldn't tell me what they wanted to talk to him about. In fact, they would get downright rude when I demanded to know what they wanted with my husband. :p

Haven't gotten any calls from either side this time around, and Gephardt isn't even running.

We keep getting "one question survey" calls having to do with different elections. Our usual answer is "undecided."

Bridget... if you do that to telemarketers... you really have too much time on your hands. A simple, "Remove me from your list, goodbye" and then hang up is all that I bother with...
I've never done the WHEAT thing with a telemarketer, but I guess if you're Lyle Griner (the guy who does the Peer Ministry trainings), then at times, you just have plenty of time.

Though, I can understand what he says about it - after all, they're just doing they're job and they're probably tired of people hanging up on them and other rude people. So, having somebody actually talk to them is probably a nice break in their day.

I'm tired of the computer dialed calls. They call five numbers at once, and the first to answer gets the telemarketer, and the other four get hung up on. I have better things to do at work than to pick up on a dead line. (and I don't like being woke up)

We've had messages on our machine from G.W, Senator Grassley, Governor Vilsack, and other campaign workers. We haven't heard from Tom Harkin yet.

That's right!!

I think it is more like they saw Adam's voting record, compared to mine. He works such strange hours, it's hard for him to make it.

He did vote in the last governor's primary with all the extra stuff in August, but that's because I told him that if he didn't, he can't b**** about the results. He always votes in the presidential elections, so I guess I can't complain.
