I hope Pastor Dorothy is okay. I went to work yesterday, and she never came into the church at all. I was there from about 10am to about 2pm and she usually comes in around 10am or 11am, but she never came and there was never a phone call from her, either.

I woke up this morning wondering about details of the Last Supper, and so I looked up Jewish customs for this, and found out the Feast of Unleaven Bread (or in fact ANY Jewish feast) is always served with wine. Isn't this proof the Last Supper had wine in it, and not grape juice or water? Our church serves wine for communion.

Our church serves wine, too, but also has grape juice for those who do not like it at all or cannot have it for medical reasons, which is a good thing.

Ya...I am with your girlfriend on this one. You look pretty scary in this picture. Kinda like the guys I try to avoid running into in a dark alley. You could consider celebrating by wearing a color or two for Christmas.

Big day in church history tomorrow (10th; from CHI):

1520 Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon burned Pope Leo X's papal bull _Exsurge, Domine_ (which threatened him with excommunication) together with the canon law of the papacy. This was done at the end of the sixty-day period of grace given by Leo for Luther to recant his stand. Leo had issued the bull in June, demanding that Luther recant his "protestant" heresies. Luther had taught earlier that justification was by faith alone, not through purchased indulgences or other papal favors. In response to Luther's burning of the papal encyclical, Leo formally excommunicated him less than a month later in January 1521 in the bull _Decet_.
