Just thought I would share some humor here.

One sunny day in 2005, an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to go in and meet with President Kerry." The Marine replied, "Sir, Mr. Kerry is not President and doesn't reside here." The old man said, "Okay," and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Kerry". The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Kerry is not President and doesn't reside here." The man thanked him and again walked away.

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same Marine, saying, "I would like to go in and meet with President Kerry." The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Kerry. I've told you already that Mr. Kerry is not the President and doesn't reside here. Don't you understand?"

The old man answered, "Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it." The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, "See you tomorrow, sir"...

that is funny! ^_^

Scott,

I have tried to help out in the decision theology thread, but as usual, the intellectuals are always unsatisfied with the boring truth!

That's because they can not visualize that anything like what Christ has done for us to be as simple as it truly is.

When it comes to Christ I am nothing but a simpleton at heart.

BTW... It is good to have you back here and fighting the fight. I think you will find that CWM has some real good stuff. He also is from LQ, but like what we have here.

Even though he's now gone, this is for Lotar, well, and all of us!:

November 9
Martin Chemnitz, Pastor and Confessor

Martin Chemnitz (1522–1586) is regarded after Martin Luther as the most important theologian in the history of the Lutheran Church. Chemnitz combined a penetrating intellect and an almost encyclopedic knowledge of Scripture and the church fathers with a genuine love for the church. When various doctrinal disagreements broke out after Luther's death in 1546, Chemnitz determined to give himself fully to the restoration of unity in the Lutheran Church. He became the leading spirit and principal author of the 1577 Formula of Concord, which settled the doctrinal disputes on the basis of the Scriptures and largely succeeded in restoring unity among Lutherans. Chemnitz also authored the four volume Examination of the Council of Trent (1565–1573), in which he rigorously subjected the teachings of this Roman Catholic Council to the judgment of Scripture and the ancient church fathers. The Examination became the definitive Lutheran answer to the Council of Trent, as well as a thorough exposition of the faith of the Augsburg Confession. A theologian and a churchman, Chemnitz was truly a gift of God to the Church.

Thank God for both the Martin's!!!

I have made my own Luther's Rose on the primitive windows program Paint...(this is a tougher job than one might think)...does anyone have any suggestions on improvement? I know it is plain, but I cant decide if I like the simplicity...

It's a little rough around the edges, but I think it looks pretty good. I've got no idea on how to smooth it out, though...

I wish I knew how to upload it and just post it. The graphic looks terrible when reduce to 360 x 360. It really is cleaner than what it looks. If anyone knows how to upload a picture onto a post from your own pc, let me know.

Awesome, and the best thing about paint is it comes with the computer so it doesn't cost as much as those other funky programs that might be able to do more. I like it!!

Will keep you in my . Children need good teachers. I have a feeling you will be one of the good ones.

Hey ChiRho, if you e-mail the image to me I can save it so it looks smoother. I have CoralDraw and PhotoPaint on my machine at home. I have found that if I save a picture to a said pixel size but fail to adjust the resolution down as well then I get what you see in your picture. (But I have never used Paint...so I don't know if that's the problem)

Also...I know insert will attach thumbnails in a post...copy and paste do not seem to work but if I recall correctly drag and drop may. If I have time tonight I'll experiment and let you know.

Peace

Rose

OK, I think I understand the rules...if someone knows a better way, please let me know.

The only way I could get your picture into the post was to publish it on a web page (not to worry, no one goes to this page....it's not even listed) and drag and drop the picture into the reply box.

Just a comment...I am amazed you were able to do this in Paint. Paint is not a very user friendly program--from a precision perspective. Surely you have a graphics tablet and didn't do this with a mouse??? Personally, my preference would be to have the background be white (instead of black) but I think that's just because I am a girl...:pink:

If you still want me to try to make a smaller, smoother version--like I said earlier...send the file and I'll try.-----R

Never too told to take classes, Rose. ;)

Thanks, but I haven't even interviewed yet - praying for that opportunity. The big issue is whether they want to replace my friend with an attorney or not. To be ABA approved, the legal classes have to be taught by attorneys, but this class is tracked as a computer class, so the instructor's education requirements are different. My friend didn't teach a couple of semesters ago when she had her baby, and they hired an attorney to replace her then. She doesn't know if they will do that this time, but when she resigned, they did ask her for names of people who might be interested in the position.

I, too, am amazed. I've been meaning to tell him this. I rarely work in Paint. I tend to use all of our other graphics progams.

I, myself, would also like a white background. Personal preferences, I guess.

I tried to do one, but I am not a very artistic person to begin with so it didn't turn out even close to what ChiRho has done.

I like the black. It adds a masculine touch to it.

it's 5pm, now, but still, plenty of prayers for that baby!

While waiting for two hours at my church (for somebody that never came. . .irritating. . .but. . .I'm okay, so no harm done, no worries), I was reading a book I had picked up yesterday while waiting.

It's called "Saved by the Light." So far, it's been quite odd. There was a part of it that I really didn't like because of what is happening in the world. Often, there are mentions of these computer chips that will be put into people's skin. It mentioned these and more that they could even be used to kill people. You'd have to read to understand - it's about a guy who died when struck by lightning.

Anyway, there were parts I liked - such as the message that we are spiritual beings, but others I didn't. Things such as "religion doesn't matter." I understand to a point, but it didn't seem to that point in the book.

Okay, whatever. . .I just had to get that out of my system.
