how to write poems?
well i think writing poetry is kind of like painting and drawing, or art.
it is an art, and some people just cant doit like others.
its not really something you can "learn" to do. its something a few people just do, and cant really tell alot about how they doit.
myself, when i write poetry, i try to be still, relax, and seem to float away, untill i feel a certain emotion, or have really captured that feeling or picture that i want my poem to be about. and when i have done that, then i begin to write, slowly and thoughtfully, letting everything flow from the emotion and feelings inside.
its surely not something you get good at overnight, it takes time, practice and experience, and you get better and better.
i think its best to let your feelings write your poems, and they often are very moving and powerful when you do that, becuase it came from an emotional experience, ya know?
but i dont think you can buy a book on how to write poetry.
maybe a little bit, but i think primarily, its something some people can do, and some people just really cant do so well.
but you just write what you feel, and try to make the statements and short and simply and complete as possible, or it becomes drawn out and long. you soon learn the importance of learning how to express big things, in simple ways. that way you can easily and quickly allow your reader to step into what your feeling, and thats good poetry.
and you just have to read your poem over and over, slowly and quietly and smoothly and youll see where you have bumps, scraps, rough edges, things that dont seem to flow with the feeling you want to express, and you just have edit it and make it smoother.
and eventually you can get that poem that just flows with one feeling, seemlessly and smoothly throughout the entire poem.
but i think the greatest thing to poetry is the ability to allow your reader to step into your world, what you feel, what you see, you have to create a scence or imagry that is so real, that it allows them to step in and become a part of it and feel it for themselves.
and i think that requires you getting alone, quiet and relaxed, and letting what you want to write about, become a reality for you first.
i just stop, close my eyes, breath, and think about what it is im writing, and let myself somehow feel it for myself, then you can accurately pen it, and make it where the reader can feel it.
