• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Are the any Christian women or physicians with advice for those suffering with chronic issues throughout the month to moderate the symptoms of the emotional and physical effects of menstruation and fluctuating hormones? Irritability, anger, impatience, cussing, complaining, low self-esteem, self-pity, and lack of faith that result from it are in opposition to a Spirit-filled life in Christ!

You need to consult with your OBGYN or be referred to one if needed. Things such as diet and exercise habits could make PMS worse if they are lacking. Your thyroid could also have an effect on this as well.

I just felt a chill go down my spine ! I am 3 years post menopausal and I remember quite well when peri started in 2006, I was 45 at the time. The nite sweat, never ending hot flashes, extra anxiety and crying and the worst of all, I lost about 35% of my hair - so I cover my head when I go out as I keep it shaved off.

Have a word with your gyn, but hormones are funny, and none of escapes them, sadly. :-(

Hi. I am not a doctor but there is a excellent nutritional pharmacist and biochemist by the name of Ben Fuchs who has a radio show he does every weekday known as "The Bright Side with Pharmacist Ben Fuchs" on the Genesis Communication Network. Anyway, he has been speaking about hormones for quite a while and he was talking about the amazing benefits of a hormone known as Pregnenolone which converts into progesterone or estrogen. But the good thing about it is that it is very safe and its not as potent as taking estrogen which can have side effects. It allows the body to decide how it wants to convert it based on your need. Most times, what you are describing is a result of a deficiency of this hormone, especially if you are experiencing stress because the counterpart of this hormone is cortisol. So one simple thing you can do is to check your local pharmacy and ask for Pregnenolone. A pharmacist will have a better idea about this than a doctor. Another option is progesterone cream which allows a slow release of progesterone into the body. Its a little bit more potent but many people see great results from it. Avoid taking any estrogen or hormone replacement therapy which is usually estrogen.

I'm a family nurse practitioner and would recommend scheduling an appointment with your generalist or OBGYN to get your hormone levels checked; a full set of labs may also be a good idea if they haven't been done recently to rule out thyroid or any other issues. Depending on your age, beliefs, and other risk factors, oral birth control pills (BCPs) may be an option; they can really help ease the symptoms you are describing. See this link here for more information: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0014036/

Options typically include oral BCPs and other synthetic and bioidentical hormones in the form of pills, patches, creams, gels, shots, or implanted pellets. You really need to speak to your provider so that s/he can assess any risk factors and provide you with the best options.
