Alright, I've renamed the Survivors of Abuse to Survivors of Violence so that forum is now purely for physical abuse/ domestic violence. I've made a new Survivors of Sexual Assault forum.

There needs to be a place for survivors of verbal and emotional abuse. Abuse is not limited to physical violence.

Although many would think that verbal and emotional and pyscological abuse is not a major issue, it can reduce a persons confidence and self esteem and cause all kinds of depression in some cases.
I would like to see this type of forum for those who go through verbal abuse, ect..

I agree that abuse is not limited to physical...
All abuse does include mental..emotional..verbal abuse...
So many needs.......I know Erwin is trying very hard...

My friend was in an abusive relationship for years and there was alot of emotional abuse and i could see how much that messed her up.... psychological/emotional abuse is just as bad as any other abuse

I liked the forum the way it was.
I understand the intention to make the sexual assault section separate, but why not keep it as 'survivors of abuse'?

the reasons i didnt like teh forum "the way itwas" was because it didtn really seem to cover "sexual assault" as in rape as adults... but yeah i dont get why its changed to violence..

I'm sorry, not to offend anyone, but I don't see what the point in changing the name of this forum was. We currently have a survivors of crime forum which would fit people who were victims of violence. When people hear the word violence, they think of physical things. I personally don't see the emotional abuse I was put through to be violence. Someone mentioned they were concerned that this forum didn't include sexual abuse, but this forum covered all abuses, and we now have a sexual assault forum. Can someone please explain to me the point in this change?

have you seen how many forums are in recovery atm ? it is insane ! Erwin and the team have done an awesome job and we got our name changed - big deal - we still have our forum. They are not going to be able to cater for everyone's needs but they are doing the best they can. Theresa I really appreciate what you are doing but just ease up on Erwin and Co. We are very lucky to have what we have and of course its not perfect but nothing ever is 100% perfect.

We have 3 forums on that topic + one in the non christian section , whilst it was very clear that we needed a sexual assault forum we now have survivors of violence and survivors of crime which all basically covers the same thing and no I'm not trying to belittle what people went thru but realistically minus the sex based crimes it could all be grouped together as abuse. I think that the forum should be renamed SoA but everything else is fine for the moment.

Yes...I think Erwin and them are really trying...;o)
I just think that this forum should of been left titled what it was...and the threads that were here left in tack.
SOA...that would encompass childhhod sexual abuse...emotional..mental and verbal abuse...
But now to me the title infers adult only violence...and will keep survivors of childhood abuse etc from having a place to share..it is just a given.
But God knows all our needs...so we just pray and move forward.
I just posted Erwins annc so the ones who were coming here before would know about the change. And giving voice to my disappointment.
I'm just going to pray.....;o)

When struggles / recovery forum was started when Erwin created CF, There were ONLY 5 subforums. I know, I staffed those forums.
Erwin is a busy man, True, But, Petitioning him the way this was done to change this was unfair to ALL those who went thru physical, emotional, or sexual abuse as a child.
Why am I in here saying this ??? You might ask ???
I went thru it all too, Thats why I feel this was a big mistake.

therewasajourney, I agree with you, You are correct in your thoughts and feelings. I would like to see this thing reversed, But, We all know what a stink that would cause now.

I would like to see it reversed also....but am placing it in Gods hands...
Right now my heart cries for those survivors who were posting here under a different notion..sharing their pain...and they will come here and see their threads deleted and title changed and it could cause major triggers...so much pain.
Personally...I can see and understand every aspect and process it..but I am way down the road in healing. I don't fault Erwin and the staff here...this whole place is awesome....
I understand that many times only a survivor can understand all the ins and outs b/c we know or are educated in all the underlying aspects.
Lets just each keep praying and encouraging each other..listening to each other in love and compassion and process this through to Gods resolution. Let this thread be a safe place to share....and everyone is doing an awesome job of sharing here ..its hard work...good job everyone..;o)

The main reason why i asked for the sexual assault forum was because there were about 4 different threads in the recovery section all talking about the same thing and someone mentioned the inadequacy the rape survivors feel about talking in forums such as SoA because it was one night vs a long term thing. I'm not belittling anything anyone went through because i have been there too, i didn't ask for the name change - that was something erwin did.

I would honestly like to see this forum go back to what it was b4 focusing on abuse and domestic violence etc and have the sexual assault forum to talk about the rape related issues but i am just grateful we have a new forum.

I can understand that, It might have been easier for Erwin to make the new forum a sub forum of the Survivors of Abuse forum. That way we all would get what we wanted and we would still have the SOA forum. Whether it was one nite or longterm, The issues are still there for each of us.
Thats all I will say for now.

I think you guys having the new forum and a safe place for your particular issues is very awesome....;o) I am so glad Erwin and the staff have a big heart...;o)
And I personally understand Erwin made the decision to change things here and that no one had anything to do with it...it was just a by product of Erwin trying so hard to help and meet needs but not understanding the totality..which is very normal....
We will just keep praying and talking and sharing and most of all caring...;o)

If you are a site supporter, if you don't mind, and have a second, go to that thread and let them know your support for changing it back to SoA. If you would like to start a thread in the suggestions section that is open to everyone, that also might work, not really sure. Thanks everyone, and God be with you.
