I've been seeing some threads in the Messianic Judaism forum that say "[open]" and I just figured out what that meant. :) Open to all for debate. They have such a great forum in there and I rarely ever see any disagreements in there...definitely not of the caliber we have here, that's for sure.

Actually, the [open] tags do not allow everyone to debate. Rule 1.4 still applies. They just allow those who have non-Christian icons to post in the Christians-only areas, but they are allowed to make only fellowship posts in open threads.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to propose the creation of a separate fellowship subforum, in addition to the current subforums, where everyone could participate but with no debating allowed. The main forum could still be open for debate and teaching, which is how it is in other congregational areas. As far as I know, none of them limit discussion in the main area to fellowship, nor would I be in favor of doing so.

I'm pretty sure this idea (or at least something similar) has been proposed before, and there's no guarantee that the suggestion will be taken. The mods don't have the authority to create subforums and divide forums.
I think this is an excellent idea. I will follow up on it and see if it is possible. If it is I think it is something we should discuss as a board.

This could be a good idea, too, but it could cause confusion for some people if the SDA forum were the only one to use such a system.
Agreed it could be confusing. However non-members of SDA are not permitted to debate anyway so the confusion it causes would probably be minimal.

You are correct "Open" tags allow non-Christians to post fellowship only posts in such designated threads.

Indeed, I am an Evangelical Adventist.

Although I have not rejected EGW, Christ's Heavenly ministry or the pre-advent judgment, I still find myself resonating more with the Progressives, as I like to think I am progressive in thought and open to new ideas.

But some Progressive ideas such as long creation days, theistic evolution, denial of miracles, regarding Bible stories, the flood and the creation account as allegorical rather than literal, are ones I can never accept, no matter how progressive I get.

And yes, I greatly fear the 'thwack'.

It's okay to borrow pictures when they're that good :)

Everyone here is doing just great. I start back to school tomorrow for my hardest class ever (and yes, I'm nervous about it). Thankfully it only lasts one month.

White...I mean PaleHorse is doing fine too. He'll be happy to hear you asked about him.

How is Star doing?

I have been posting on CF for abt a month now, but have made very few posts in the Seventh day forum because of what seems to be a lot of animosity and friction between folks in here. I just don't like that and do not want to be a part of it.

Unfortunately a lot of people feel the same way you do, and that's why so many people leave. That's hopefully what we're all working together to get changed.

Please stick around.

Those views are not held by most of those who identify themselves as Evangelicals or even Progressives here. I can think of only one Adventist member here who leans toward the more liberal end of the spectrum on some of those issues, and I have no problem with his discussing them in the SDA forum even if we don't all agree.
