• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

folks, it's business. WalMart, just like every major retailer, wants to make money and lots of it. I highly doubt they mind who buys their products as long as they don't buy them with Monopoly money.

I dont care too much about this. Like Golfingmom said it is from purchases made through that website or whatever.....i dont care if it were purchases from regular store sales..i would still shop there... im too poor to boycott them for something like that... plus if i boycotted them then i would have to look into every store i shop at to see what they support and make sure i can shop there.

I don't know why this makes any type of difference...unless you never come out of your house, you are dealing with homosexual people more likely every day and just aren't aware of it....would you elect to no longer receive mail if you found out your mailman was homosexual?? This is the real world and there are people of all types out there...you don't personally have to condone anything, but guess what?? Homosexuals are everywhere...I'd be curious to see what would happen if someone said " I will no longer shop at store XYZ, because they contribute to the United Negro College fund...I bet there would be a real problem with that...why should one form of bigotry be accepted and not others??? Seems awfully judgemental in my opinion...

I don't want my $ going to fund groups trying to get laws passed that allow homosexual marriage. That is my choice. So I will not go to stores that fund those groups.

That's your perogative, but it's alreadybeen established that money spent shopping at the Wal-mart stores or website will not be going to the homosexual donations.

:amen:

I have to ask how it's possible that Christans can boycott places liek Walmart because of their association with homosexuals- but waht about boycotting McDonalds? Burger King... Are they not aiding in this nations struggle with obescety? What about people who over eat? Isn't their gluttony just as much of a sin as homosexuals? What about the banks- if money is the root of evil and greed?

I could go on....

:amen: :amen: :amen: Hubby and I are very conscious of where we shop. We are boycotting Wal-Mart because the abortion pill and also because of the ban on employees saying, "Merry Christmas", same with Target. We don't have a lot of money either, but thrift stores and Kmart are great, inexpensive alternatives.

Niki (and everyone who agreed), to me homosexuality is just the same as lying, adultery, or stealing. It is a sin, no better or worse than any other, just as the Bible says. I guess everyone makes such a big fuss over it because it is something that is obvious and thrown into our faces to accept constantly. I won't accept it as okay, same as I won't accept adultery is okay because it is displeasing to God. I do not think God hates homosexuals, I do believe He hates the sin, just as He hates all of our sins. You are right, we are no better nor worse than anyone else, we are all the same.

People make a choice to overeat, mcdonalds cannot control that. They offer salads, pepole can choose to eat that instead of a big mac. That is sooo completely different than . I don't eat fast food much anyway, and when i do i get something healthy and i don't stuff my face.
And yes, money made from online sales DOES go to these groups, here is the article

Wal-Mart Contributes 5% Of Online Sales To Homosexual Group Sign the pledge not to shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club on the Friday and Saturday following Thankgiving
Help recruit 1,000,000 to agree to not shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club (owned by Wal-Mart) on the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving. Here's why:

In a show of support to help homosexuals legalize same-sex marriage, Wal-Mart has agreed to automatically donate 5% of online sales directly to the Washington DC Community Center for Gay, Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender People. The cash donation will come from ALL online purchases made at Wal-Mart through the homosexual group's Web site. This move follows Wal-Mart's joining the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and agreeing to give generous financial help to that group.

Every purchase made online for books, music, videos, clothing and accessories, children's clothing and toys, and electronics at the site will automatically send 5% of the sales to the homosexual group.

With this agreement, Wal-Mart made clear their support for the homosexual movement was a total commitment to the cause.

Many observers feel it would have been a wise business decision for Wal-Mart to remain neutral in the cultural battle over homosexual marriage. But this was an ideological decision by Wal-Mart, not a business decision. Wal-Mart decided to give the promotion of homosexual marriage their full support.

I personally don't like the name-calling tone of this thread

And perhaps "slapped" is a regional expression I'm not familiar with, but I don't like that either.

I'd like to respectfully ask people to tone things down in here please.
