• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

not everyone will relate to this discussion. and not every OCD habit is realated to disobediance to God. this does not apply to everyone. if anyone finds this disturbing and feels confused; please write staff, talk to your counselor, or someone who can meet you where you are in your stuggles with OCD. *HUG* xo dee

for your knowledge, i'm OCD, and i do not relate it to sin at all. infact, my doctors tell me that unless it interferes with my life, i shouldn't even worry about it. and since my issues are all clean issues: lol... i'm considered healthy. when i was younger i had ones that drove me nuts... i've grown out of some of them with theraphy, and age... but, ODC in my life is just such a small focus now. ;) xo dee

Well said Dee!! The obsessions/ compulsions of OCD are part of the symptomology of the disorder. It makes no difference what theme they settle upon. If we begin to equate them with willfull sin or lack of faith we will automatically put them into the realm of being a spiritual problem rather than a illness/disorder. This will complicate the therapy process because every time we do a compulsion we will feel tremendous guilt about it. No one chooses to have OCD, just like no one chooses high blood pressure, diabetes, epilepsy etc. Having OCD is part and parcel of living within a creation that "groans under the weight of sin". Things are not as they should be - but one day thanks to the cross of Jesus Christ these afflictions will fall off us and a new heaven and a new earth will be put back into the state of "goodness" that they were intended to be.
Thanks for your insightful comments.
