  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Please pray for courage

Guys as some of you know, I know that I am going to be Catholic. It is the true faith. I feel so strongly to someday even join a Religous Order.
The catch is this, I'm a teenager and being raised in a devoutly Pentecostal home. Please just pray and encouage me to:
1) Keep the faith
2) Courage to tell my parents
3) God's will for whatever he wants me to do

And I have a question, let's say I tell my parents and they approve, do I have to wait until I'm 18 to go throgh RCIA?

Also, where is it in the CCC that says something like, Anyone who desires to be part of the church already is, or something of the such?

AT, Keep a low profile for a while and emerge one step at a time. (Think of yourself as being in the catacombs for a while, as you study and grow spiritually.)

If eventually your parents approve, most Pastors will allow you to begin RCIA.

We'll be praying for you on OBOB for courage and patience.

Hi! :)

May God bless you and keep you in the fulness of faith and emfolded within the arms of His Church. :) May He grant you wisdom and courage as to when is the best time to tell your parents, and may He prepare their hearts to understand and be receiptive to your woards.

May I suggest that before you tell your parents, unless you strongly feel the leading of the Holy Spirit otherwise, to pray a Novena - a period of 9 days of prayer There are many to chose from, but I especially love the Novena to the Infant Child Jesus :)

By desiring to enter the Church you have become a catechumen, and so are joined to the Church while in this process . . at one time in the early Church this catechumenate process took 3 years . . .:)

CCC 1249 Catechumens "are already joined to the Church, they are already of the household of Christ, and are quite frequently already living a life of faith, hope, and charity."[48] "With love and solicitude mother Church already embraces them as her own."[49]

Be encouraged . ..

Also, may I encourage you to develop a devotion to Mary . . this will be tremedous for you and a great encouragement to you during this time of waiting . .

If your parents were to agree to allow you to enter the Church, then I believe you would be allowed to attend RCIA and go through the process now . . You would need to speak to your priest about the best way to go about this. But they would need your parent's permission.

Be encouraged . . your desire joins you to the Church. :)

Peace in Him!

Sounds great, especially for Advent, I am just wanting to make sure that the story and stuff behind the Infant Jesus of Prague is infact approved by the church.
