• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

If anyone would I would deeply appreciate it if you would pray for my brother. His name is Daniel and he is struggling with a drug addiction. He wants help but he feels so very helpless and he is very depressed and scared that his wife will leave him when she finds out that he has gone back to using. I am going over to his house tomorrow to be with him when he talks to his wife. He agrees that he needs to be checked into rehab. He feels scared and alone. He is only 23. I would love it if anyone would pray for him and his situation.

Praying he finds the help he needs, ShannonJ. You could mention to him also that if he really wants to start recovering, he can go to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting or in a pinch an Alcoholics Anonymous one, and pick up a Newcomers chip or tag. Rehabs can be a kickstart but I know plenty of people who have long-term contented abstinence from alcohol and drugs without having gone to one of them. And the only requirement for being a member is a desire to stop using. Nothing else needed.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Everything has gone so well for him these past few days. God has put everything into place for him to get treatment. I took him to a rehabilitation facility today that (praise God) is faith based. His wife is very supportive and everything has happened excatly as he needed it in order for him to go through with treatment without any problems. I would greatly appreciate your prayers as he goes through rehab, not only for him but his wife as well, she is hurting too. Thank you all so much!

 Hi Shannon, I will be praying and had on my heart some scripture verses for him.

Read them over his life and let him and his wife read them too, they are encouraging promises from the word of God for him.

Freedom Scripture verses
Psalm 118 verse 5 “In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free.

This verse is just beautiful - God will answer his cry and
will set him free !!

Jeremiah 40 verse 4 “ But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists .

God will set him free from the chain of addiction - be encouraged - He will do it.

Romans 6 verse 18 “ You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

Romans 8 verse 2 “Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

John 8 verse 36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Matthew 28 verse 18 “Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Praise God - Jesus has the key to unlock every chain of
oppression and addiction!

Isaiah 19 verse 20 “When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, he will send them a Savior and Defender, and He will rescue them.”

Wow - beautiful eh - Keep in faith, God has already provided a way forward.

Standing in agreement with you for him to be set free totally. God is able and will break the chains of his addiction. Nothing is too hard for God.

May you all know His peace and comfort.
Love in Him

Hi Shannon,

There is power in the truth of God's word to free him. Jesus is the truth and Jesus is the Word made flesh.
Your brother with Jesus will win.
Jesus has done it all - "It is finished"
I will continue to pray and anything else the Lord gives me I will let you know.
May the Prince of Peace give you peace,
Love and blessings

So I just wanted to give everyone an update. First of all thank you so much for everyone who has and still is praying for my brother. He has been in rehab for two weeks now and he is doing so well. He says that he has built up an amazing faith there and he has learned so much. There is a wonderful pastor that does a bible study there every morning that my brother loves. I spoke with my brother this evening and he is ready to come home in the next few weeks and to start his life over living for Christ!
