  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi all..:help:

Just had an ultrasound (i'm 37 weeks along now) and the midwife and doctor is saying that my little girl (heh-little :o ) is measuring about 9lb 3oz, and they called late this past week and said they want to discuss what could go on in delievering a big baby and "options"

I'm petrified that the word "c-section" will come up. This is something that I truly do not want and I'm scared to death of going under the knife. My first baby was 7lbs 15 oz, and I know that its a big jump to 9lb 3oz, but I'm just nervous and scared they are going to try to get me to do this when they don't even know if I can or cannot push this baby out. There's been no concern about this until now.

I just hope that when they mean "options" they'll just mention inducing which that I don't have a problem with.

Please..please PLEASE (with 10 cherries on top) keep myself and my big girl in your prayers--especially about the method of birth--I'm really frightened.:o

Please don't be scared. Sonograms are Often a good 2lbs off~ guessing the weight of the baby is Not a science (as much as medical people would like to say it is). They may be right, but then again, probably not.

Have you looked at the thread "Guess What"? I posted some information in there that you might find useful.

There is a time & a place for c-sections... However if you don't feel this is the time for one, you Do have options.... especially since your first baby "paved the way" so to speak. The position of the baby is probably the most important aspect (even moreso than size). Check out www.spinningbabies.com for more info on that.

While you and your healthcare providers are making decisions I will definately be praying. :prayer:

Praying - and if I had a dollar for every pound off the sonograms have been scaring women into c-sections (for those women who don't want c-sections, some women feel more comfortable with that option) I would be a very rich lady!

Remember- if you don't have any malformation of the pelvis- and your baby isn't presenting in an odd way (which often you just don't know until labor is not progressing properly, despite being up and active)- there is very little reason you won't be able to vaginally birth your baby- no matter what her size.

I am so sorry- fear is so crippling  Praying for your peace- and health- and a wonderful, wonderful birth!

Well just got back from the doctor..

Not so good news....Since my pelvis is small and the baby is now pushing almost 10 pounds and considering my stature the doctor (who is actually pretty anti-c-section) is very concerned and would rather me do a c-section rather than be induced because she fears a shoulder dystocia could occur. I told her my fears and she did set up the induction but asked me to mull it over in my head about the c-section.

I'm really in a no-win situation. 2 of my choices involve getting a c-section and the other (a shoulder dystocia) I'm not willing to risk my child just to be able to say I pushed out a big baby or prove the doctor wrong.

I'm still incredibly scared about this but I don't think I have much of an option now.

I'm probably going to call later today so she can go ahead and schedule something so I'll let you all know what's going on when I find more info out....

 for all

please keep me in your prayers..i think i'm going to need them.

I'm in the exact same situation you are in. My baby is measuring big and for the same reasons my doctor feels it would be a good idea to do a c-section. She is willing to induce and let me try but she is worried as well about a long labor ending in a c-section for many reasons. My husband and I discussed and prayed over this and feel a c-section is best for us. It's not the way I thought my baby would come into this world but like you said it is not worth the risk just to prove something to your doctor and others.

Do what you feel in your heart is best, don't let fear or disapointment overcome that. You want your delivery to go as smoothly as possible and doing what is best for you and your baby will help encourage that. Just remember, it's not how your baby comes into the world it's that she comes into the world safe and healthy! You'll be in my prayers!

I am praying for ya sis! I am praying that God gives you comfort with whatever HE wants you to do in delivering your baby girl! I won't tell you a C-section is best, but I will say that the doctors and your midwife are trained professionals and they probably do know best! God bless you and your big baby girl!

Update:

The c-section is scheduled for Tuesday morning. I'm so scared and I hate being scared of this..
Don't be afraid! The Lord is in control! Remember that God does not give us a spirit of fear, fear is from Satan. I'll pray the Lord gives you peace and comfort during this time!
