Ive had OCD since I was a kid, im through alot of it now. But sometimes an event rears its ugly head. And then I spiral.

I was listening to music. And I had the intrusive thought "If my fiancee comes online before the next song starts, ill break up with her". Utter stupidity right? Well I wanted to test it and I willingly said in that moment of panic (not out loud. In my head) "I bet my life". To really prove the thought wrong and then BAM she suddenly appears online. Im now TERRIFYED. I dont know what to do. I never make oaths or vows because Jesus says not to. Plus its too much anxiety. And most certainly would I never bet my life. But...idek...I think I need to break up with her now...? But I really dont know how to go about that...

Why would you listen to an illness? You know it’s OCD. Don’t hop on the merry go round.

Voices and ideas that pop up inside your head are not always you. You need to make this distinction very clearly.

Thoughts and voices in the mind can come from anywhere and they should not be listened to, but rather dictated to.

The planes can fly overhead, but you do not have to let them land in your head. Tell the bad thoughts and ideas to keep moving and focus on something else.

The birds can land in your hair, but do not let them make a nest... Shoo them away, tell the voices to be silent, tell them no, tell them that this is your mind and you dictate what stays and what goes.

Choose to banish negative thoughts, evil thoughts, selfish thoughts, harmful thoughts, unloving thoughts, ungodly thoughts.

Keep and cling tightly to good thoughts, happy thoughts, heavenly thoughts, loving thoughts, kind thoughts, thoughts of Lord Jesus and God our Father and the Holy Spirit who is with us and in us always.

Our bodies are the Temple of God, where He has chosen to reside, to stay.

This means that our mind is the alter where what we focus on is the thing we are choosing to worship.

Attention is worship. Choose God, choose good, focus on love, for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)

If the birds are making nests and you let them stay there, they will own your head and make it home forever.

Command the voices to be silent if they are negative, evil, or unloving.

Do not believe anything that tells you that you must obey it. It is lying to you.

If a voice disagrees with scripture in the Bible, it is not from God. (1 John 4:1)

Speak control into your mind with your physical voice if you need to. Choose something good to change your focus to and begin talking about it out loud and thanking God for good things. If voices contradict you and try to distract you, disregard them and affirm that you will stay focused on positive things only and that this is your choice that you are dictating. (Philippians 4:8) (Proverbs 18:21)

Practice makes things easier, giving up makes things harder. Willpower is a muscle and we must use it, or we lose it.

This is easier said than done. But it is absolutely achievable, for with God's help we can do all things. (Philippians 4:13)

Do a search for positive quotes, leadership quotes, Bible quotes, optimism quotes. Dig in deep into positivity and the Bible.

God told us this is a war, and it is a war that starts inside our minds. The enemy wants to destroy us, and that is where he starts, attacking our mind.

We must fight evil, and choose good, resist Satan and choose God the Son, Lord Jesus. (James 4:7) (Joshua 24:15)

Memorize scriptures, including these posted here. Work hard at it, and they will guide you every day. Make sure you can say them without looking at them or reading them. They are the "good" thoughts we need to keep us on the path of light and truth and to win the war in our mind.

Jesus Christ, God the Son, died for you and me and all who would accept His love. Focus on this love, remember this love, embrace and immerse your mind in this love and become this love. He loves you more than anyone else could, and wants to teach us how to be the same kind of love that He is in our thoughts and deeds. (John 15:13) (1 Corinthians 13:13) (1 Timothy 1:5) (Matthew 27)

It’s was OCD. It’s magical/cursed thinking. If this happens or that happens it equals….

I’m not going to debate it as this is the advice section but you might look into some assistance from your doctor.

To whom did you bet your life? Do you think God plays these games?

I have no idea…i just thought the thought. It wasnt to anyone by name.
That’s OCD. You have to learn to discern. Your disease may make you think something or another but do you think God does not know that and will remove His protection? God does not operate like that.

I honestly dont know. Im relatively new to Christ so I have a lot of pitfalls in my knowledge. I know he takes oaths very seriously and since i thought it willingly i figured he may have taken that as a actual oath.

No. He knows you struggle with OCD. Why would He hold you to an oath brought on by OCD? We serve a just and loving God. Not a God that’s always trying to trip you up and hold you to irrational OCD promises or oaths.

No. There are coincidences galore in OCD. It’s a self defeating cycle. Just remember those irrational thoughts are the OCD, they are not your own. There is training and meds that can help you desensitize yourself to those episodes. God does not work under the bondage that is OCD. You need to remember that. :praying:

Intrusive thoughts don't come from God. God is merciful and doesn't want to harm us.

Consider speaking to your PCP or a therapist. Anxiety is a terrible thing to live with.

Blessings!

I was listening to music. And I had the intrusive thought "If my fiancee comes online before the next song starts, ill break up with her". Utter stupidity right?
You've answered your own question; it was an intrusive thought; one that you felt was utterly stupid.
Well I wanted to test it
Why did you want to test it - because you thought it might be from God? It was an intrusive thought.
and I willingly said in that moment of panic (not out loud. In my head) "I bet my life".
And you're still alive.
But...idek...I think I need to break up with her now...?
Why? Because of an intrusive thought?

Do you want to break up with her?
You asked her to marry you, or at least, agreed to get married. She knows all about you, including your OCD (I hope) and still wants to spend her life with you. Are you thinking that she's not right for you?
If you don't want to break up with her, there is no reason at all to do so. If you're still worried, ask her and see what she says. How do you think she would react if you said, "I think we should call off the engagement and not marry because I had an intrusive thought in my head"?
I'm guessing that because she loves you and understands, she'd try to reassure you that an intrusive thought isn't real.

You didn't make your "oath" to God.
He understands you better than you understand yourself and is not going to reject you because of an intrusive thought.
