I think sometimes we feel like we deserve to be punished and hurt, but that doesn't bring healing. It just fuels the vicious cycle that we get into. Push away from the anger at you and hug yourself and tell yourself something comforting instead of angry. I've yet to meet someone who self-injures who deserves to injure themselves.

Allison, I know you want to stop. Yesterday you promised me that you will never let this happen again. You promised you will never cut again, and you will never overdose. You were crying, and you ran, but I wrote back to tell you that I care about you deeply, and God loves you. I am not angry at you, I know you have been ill. But I care about you, it makes me so sad when you hurt yourself.

I want you to be well. I so much pray for you to be well.
