  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

PLEASE HELP ME!

I moved to the midwest from Southern California. I do not have any friends. I'am looking for a stable entry level contract job. I do not have stable job experience. Homelessness is a possibility in 6 months. I feel lost in the world. I do not know what to do. Please help me.:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

Sarah,
Dial 211 on your phone, and you will be connected with help for finances, employment, housing, and medical. Most of it is free. It is nationwide but you will be connected with these organizations in your county. Just call 211. Okay?

In the meantime, here is a prayer for you.
Father God in heaven, look down upon this precious child and deliver her. Give her a job, Lord. Give her help from Christian brothers and sisters. Encourage her, Lord and give her friendships that are true and lasting. Help her out of this financial mess. You promised that You would meet every need. So I hold You to that Promise. I thank You Lord for healing Sarah inside and out and meeting every possible need in Jesus' name. Amen.

I applied there but they want lots more of job experiences.
If you are fluent in three languages you might advertise as a tutor at the college and at the high school to supplement a lower paying job.
We don't know where you are so we can only help so much. If you aren't a thousands miles from a bigger city with more opportunities is there some reason you cannot move on to greener pastures?

Hello Sarah. Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch in life.
With what I've read so far, in regards to your situation, I am able to make a couple of suggestions.
If you're not getting callbacks, first of, please don't lose hope & faith that something will come your way.

Have you tried your best to find volunteer jobs/work in exchange of a place to stay at churches or colleges?
Any soup kitchens around the area?
As long as the work is safe and not self degrating, I would just take whatever comes along to begin with.

I'll say a prayer for you, Sarah. Keep us posted!

HI! Thanks for messaging me and that you will pray for me :groupray:. Yes, I looked into local church jobs, had an interview but no call backs. There are no soup kitchens or food pantries here either. Your profile picture is pretty!!!! Where do you live? How old are you? :groupray: I"am shy, silent in real life.

I'm sorry to hear about your current situation, Sarah.. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. I'm glad you shared this with us and sought help. Our greatest Helper is God Himself, and I know He will help you through all of this. In the meantime, here are some practical suggestions for you to consider.
♥ Apply to tutoring jobs. Phone your local high school and elementary school and ask if they are looking for tutors, or you can apply directly to a local tutoring agency/program [If you haven't already, I recommend visiting job sites by Googling 'jobs in __insert your city's/town's name here_]
♥ Sell hand-made items. Are you experienced in knitting/crochet/painting/other popular crafts? I advise going through 'Etsy' online and see the things people are selling. Not experienced? I personally learned through YouTube tutorials and I now know how to crochet and knit [basic-intermediate skill level]
♥ Apply to whatever jobs are listed online [that you know you're able to do and try not to be too picky with the jobs posted]
♥ Consider taking a PSW [personal support worker] course [I think it's a year or less of school]. They're in demand.
♥ Ask neighbours if they need help shovelling the snow. Or you can put out an ad in the newspaper/craigslist [website] and whatever free advertising websites are out there, saying that you are able to shovel snow for money [the elderly and those with physical disabilities especially need help with this]
♥ Host a bake sale at your local Church? Be honest with them about your situation and ask them if you can hold a bake-sale there and maybe get others in the congregation to pitch in with baking and help out too!
♥ You said you have 6 months [possibly] left, right? You have a good amount of time, in my opinion. So it's best to start early no matter how small you may start off in any of the above mentioned or whatever it is you decide to do. It'll all accumulate, but you definitely need to contact your local human resources. Search online and see their location in your area. Or you can check out your local library, tell them your situation, and see if they can refer you to places/people.
♥ If it's allowable in your area, you can purchase hens and sell off their eggs for a cheaper price.
♥ Definitely consider the newspaper ad and paying a small fee to get your ad out there. OR you can do it for free online as mentioned.
♥ Check out the varagesale website [it's a place where you can sell any old items you don't want anymore and people from your area can meet with you somewhere public and pay you].
♥ Some of these recommendations aren't good enough on their own such as varagesale.
♥ Learn a trade/skill that is useful and ON DEMAND- it is SUPER valuable to know and people will benefit from your skills and services.

And always pray for God to give you the wisdom, knowledge, and direction of where He wants you to go. He will take care of you. Keep your faith on Him. He wants you to persevere and to have faith in Him because He is our God.. our Provider and Helper. He will never leave nor forsake you in your troubles and hardship. Even though we may not understand why we're going through certain things and even though we may feel that He isn't there..He is. We can't trust on our emotions. But we can trust Him and His promises even in the storm.

Much love. I hope some of this helps. Please do consider them and start as early as you can while you still have time.

Thanks for the long message, I appreciate it. I'am looking for entry level jobs where I can use basic skills. I don't know how to knit, sow, crotchet anything. What is a personal support worker job?????????? I"am not that physically strong to shovel show or do heavy duty jobs. I like to bake but the apartment kitchen stove, is electric old too. Let's be in touch. :groupray:

Sarah,
I can tell already that you are going to be just fine. Better than fine; you are going to find yourself in a place that you never thought possible. You will look back on all of this and say, "Been there... done that." And you will be helping others through their own tough spots.

It will get better, and soon. Hang on to the Lord with all your might and believe - know - He is right there with you!

*I'm curious as to why you'd move to a place
that you didn't check out first-- especially when
you don't know anyone there and you don't have
stable employment history?
