  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ive been arguing with a person that says that swingers are blessed by God

I really cant believe this
But the worst thing is that ive been searching the internet looking for proofs against this, but ive not been able to find something good enough to help him think that this is tottaly wrong in the eyes of god

Heres one of his answers

adultery means : breaking a covenant...as Israel often did with God and were called adulterous for it. When referring to a married couple, it has to do with breaking the marriage covenant. My wife and I have agreed to share each other exclusively with another couple who are our best friends. We are not breaking our marriage covenant because we are not covenanting against sharing each other with our poly lovers. It is wonderful, and blessed by God.

That is absolutely ridiculous and the person is in violation of the basic principle of Christian marriage:

Matthew 19:
4"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'[a] 5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'[b]? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
By becoming one flesh they essentially are united for life in the most intimate of ways.

To sleep with someone else's wife, even with their consent, is to break up the union.

It is not supposed to be a shared union in the least.

Paul also speaks of how spouses are there to quell sexual passions in a sense -- that is their purpose. Not to in the end enhance and fulfill sick sexual desires with your friends.

Adultery is extramarital sex; and the marital covenant includes God. That it's "not adultery" because the two of them say so is right up there with two hit men saying it's "not murder" because they agree it isn't. Disobedience is disobedience, no matter how many people say it is not.

I see no wrong in it. Then again, I don't follow your beliefs, so I guess my opinion doesn't matter much.

Have you considered asking what possible reason that being a swinger would be a bad thing? Why is it a sin? What's your god's reasoning?

Ah, cultural leftovers from a time when wives were still counted among the husband's possessions, and thus fell under property rights. Isn't it grand?

Yeah, like this Bible passage and its' sexism:

1 Corinthians 7:

4The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
Yuo are buying into a baseless stereotype.

You have no problem with the Bible but rather a problem with the way that society used to exist.

Please, go take up the issue with your ancestors and not with Jesus Christ.

Sick? Really?

Yeah, having sex with someone who is not your spouse is a sick and depraved act.

Sure, it feels good and what not, but it makes your soul black.

Good for you. I prefer not to think of myself as an object and a material possession.
Odd statement when you have " Liliths lovetoy" in your usertitle. Isnt a toy an object/material possession?

1. It's not a baseless stereotype. There are many third party sources that do a good job of recounting the general "value" that women have been given in the past.

2. Ok, but how is it sick?? How do you go about determining that their soul is black.

3. Why do you think that the bible says that this is a sin (which, from my understanding, it does not)? Answer the "Why" please.

Blessed by which god? Swinging resembles pagan lifestyles.

If it is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we see that other men did not share their wives with other men. And husbands were not shared with other men's wives. We see polygamy and we see a few incidents of wife stealing (just one that is coming to mind at this moment), but we do not see swinging "blessed" by God.

1. Do you have sources for anything? They cited a specific chapter and verse.

2. I realize that swinging couples wouldn't think so, but most of the rest of married folk would agree that it's sick.

3. Committing adultery is a sin. There are issues of trust and honesty, as well as issues of disease (AIDS, HIV, etc.) that come up with sharing partners.

Good for you. I prefer not to think of myself as an object and a material possession.

I prefer to think that my wife belongs to me and I to her. Not in the straw man material possession sense you make it out to be, but as two people with one flesh. I am just as much hers as she is mine. She is my helper and respects me, I cherish her and love her as my equal.

Thank you for explaining it and putting it in better words than I could .
