Hello,
My name is Samantha. I am an admin on another christian forum. I have come her to learn and to ask for help. We have Benn bombarded all of the sudden with evolutionist.

Most on our site are young and these people really use terms that most do not understand. I have a hard time understanding them. i have no clue as how to debate them because I am not a scientist. i do believe in creationism..(God created all) however I can not debate scientifically nor can most of our users and the evolutionist just keep coming. i want to help my people but to do so I need to know how. There are so many with almost whole page posts. Could some one please help me.

You mentioned you are not a scientist. Neither am I. I'm a seminarian. I'm a creationist, but I don't waste my time arguing science. I approach it a different way.

There will be those who tell you that you need to debate evolutionists with creation science. I am not one of them. There are a few reasons for this:

1) In order for me to speak coherently on science I need years of study. Regurgitating what someone else tells me is pointless because I'm not even sure it's valid.

2) God and science don't mix. Here's why: the scientific method does not allow for there to be a deity. A diety cannot be proven - and the scientific method requires that something can/or cannot be proven.

3) I study God's Word - every moment I spend studying science is time away from my calling. I'm not a scientist, I'm a future pastor.

4) I don't think there is a conspiracy. I don't think the vast, vast, vast, majority of scientists who believe in evolution are out to prove Christianity wrong. They are simply reporting what they see. They see evolution --- this leads to my important point...

Evolution is based upon what MAN observes. It is not revealed to us, it is an observation made with our FALLEN minds. We live in a FALLEN world. Fallen minds making conclusions about a fallen world = results that cannot be trusted. Sure, they may work (i.e. 2+2=4) but they are MAN MADE rules.

Creation (6-day) is based upon what GOD reveals to man. It is a revelation given to us from the PERFECT God that we have. He knows how the world was made, HE BUILT IT.

EVOLUTION = INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM BELOW FROM MAN
CREATION = INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM ABOVE FROM GOD

These answers WILL NOT appease those who are debating SCIENCE WITH YOU. The reason is that they want creation to be a scientific issue, it is not a scientific issue. They will make fun of you for saying it's not a scientific issue... why? because science is their religion and their God. They listen to whatever it tells them and if you can't speak according to their religion, they will laugh at you. Sounds worse than the worst Christian, doesn't it?

There are scientists out there who believe evolution as a sytem works, and they are Christian because they know what we observe is not neccessarily SUPREME TRUTH. This is where I stand.

I hope this helps. Otherwise, you have a lot of science to read... years.. years.. years... and I still don't believe you will find more evidence for Creation than Evolution within science. Again, scientists are not evil - they are simply reporting what they observe. I believe Ken Hamm and other Creation scientists are trying to force science and the Bible to fit. They look like fools in the process. God's Word is our authority, if science conflicts with God's Word - then who do you trust? Is science your authority or God's Word? Pick your religion.

I dont know what to do then..I have tried letting them know how we see things and why but theye seem so unable or unwilling to even say okay if thats the way you see it then I have nothing more to say on the subject. I suppose i could just ban them but theye are all coming from one forum board and theye would just send others. Not sure what to do.

Banning them might be a missed opportunity to share the Good News. They are there for a reason, even if it's to cause trouble, they are there to debate/discuss. If you explain to them that you don't see our origins as a scientific issue then maybe they will understand.

Again, I would suggest saying, "I don't see our origins as a scientific issue. Science cannot, by it's very nature, affirm a God, so how can I explain to you my beliefs of our origins through science?! Just as I cannot convince YOU via God's Word because you rely upon SCIENCE, you cannot convince me via SCIENCE because I rely upon GOD'S WORD! Now, do you want to hear my understanding of Creation?! Better yet, I'll read a page of science for every page you read of God's Word "

I could try that..although of them has decided if god exsist then he would make it clear likeparting the red sea again or making the earth stand still...but then scientist would just say "there is a scietific reason for this and here it is..______insert thinking now..."

It sounds like you were targeted by a small group that does that sort of thing. Most of the time their arguments will follow the same scripted lines of evidence and don't stand up to close examination. I would have to see their arguments to be sure how to counter their arguments but I doubt seriously they are being as scientific as they pretend.

I'd be glad to but I warn you ahead of time I know nothing about geology and have not the slightest interest. I am pretty familar with genetics and the line of evidence in that regards. For starters why don't you let me have the link either in this thread or you can drop me a PM. Most of the time there will be simple arguments behind their seemingly technical discussion.

I would simply need two things, to see their arguments and to view their source material. After that there are rarely more then two or three standard lines of debate. Don't worry, this issue is not that tough once you get some of the basics down pat.

What I have learned is that NO MATTER WHAT I SAY they have all these canned answers, and like you say, write these time-consuming long posts in response.

And if they don't have a canned answer, they insult me, or the person whose opinion I referred to.

I would pray and ask God to take them away.

Here's a solution:
Invite all the people of the other site to Christianforums.com and set up the topics in the areas that are restricted. Inappropriate posts can be reported and deleted. It's better way to fellowship with people of similar faith. I rarely post in areas that are open to all members, because it's hard to have a conversation without being attacked.

Not sure if this is relevant here, but I found the creation theories a bit hard to understand as before I became a Christian, I used to watch all the documentaries on evolution and geology etc.

I believe in creation now , and my thinking is that God created the earth etc. so why could he not create rocks, mountains etc. with a carbon date of millions of years old and equivalent wear, even if they are 1 day old.
He is the creator so it is up to him
It covers the scientific evidence.

There is one thing I'd recommend right off the top, and it is specifically intended for you. Don't fall into the trap of believing that just because something is deemed 'scientific' that it somehow is above reproach and can't be challenged. Personally that is the only way that I can see these evolutionists making an inroad and deceiving people. If you as the admin don't ever back down and cower from the arguments then I don't believe those young Christians will either.

I'm just like you - not a scientist - and rarely if ever use science as my weapon of choice. I choose to use the best weapon we've been given and that is the Truth of Scripture, everything else is just wasted breath anyway. Trust in God's Word and you can never go wrong.

BTW, I'd like to see just what they're doing so if you don't mind I'd like you to PM me the address of your site. Thanks!

We don't have any restricted areas. This site was set up by Brian aka head...ex member of the band korn and he wanted everyone to fell welcome so there are no restricted areas,except the ones I and the other admins use. There is only one other admin and he stays busy. I just made someone else a mod. so you see how hard it is to watch everything.

I will tell them to come here like one suggestion but I dont know if they will and I do not want to cause trouble for this board as well.

I went on Head2Christ and I have been going a couple of rounds with them, I actually know some of them from other boards. It's the same old stuff, they spam stuff from Talk Origins and Panda's Thumb but once you get out of their carefully scripted realm they collapse like a house of cards.

The moderating policy is simple, if they get out of line then warn them. If they don't like playing by the rules them start banning them, it's as simple as that. One thing that is important to me on a personal level, don't let them make you think this is about the Bible verses science, that's the dirty little secret. The God of the Bible is an intrusion to them because the natural man cannot receive the things of God. Keep your eyes on the prize, God's wisdom searches out the things of Christ, not the arguments of science falsely so called.

"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places" (Eph. 1:18-20)

Thanks for all your help Mark. You are doing a great Job and I for one am learning alot as I know others are also.
