  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Becoming a Christian is not a one-off decision, it is a life-long commitment to follow him and be his disciple, so it's not just a case of accepting Jesus.

Also, the purpose of this section of CF is for you to ask questions of more mature Christians. So if there is anything specific, ask away!

Mat 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Problem!
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,

Penalty!
Romans 5:12 Therefore, even as through one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed on all men inasmuch as all sinned:

Provision!
Romans 5:8 But God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

Pardon!
Romans 10:9-10 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.

And remember.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Blessings.

I want to accept Jesus, please help me.
You have made the choice of wanting to accept Him, and that is half the hurdle. There are very few rules that God set up, to accept the salvation offered through Jesus' sacrifice for us.

What are the terms?

WANTING HIM

Joh 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.

The word received was a general taking hold of something or someone, welcoming or accepting. Nothing fancy.

ADMITTING YOUR CHOICE IN PUBLIC

Mt 10:32
Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.

Mr 1:5 And all the country of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
You have just told us that this is what you want. What greater public than the Internet, lol.

REGRETTING OFFENSES, AND DETERMINING TO CHANGE

Ac 3:19
Thereforerepent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

FOLLOWING HIS WAYS AND LIVING FOR HIM

Mt 7:21
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

Luke 3:10

And the crowds were questioning him, saying, "Thenwhat shall we do?" And he would answer and say to them, "The man who has two tunics is to share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise."

And some tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Collect no more than what you have been ordered to."

Some soldiers were questioning him, saying, "And what about us, what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Do not take money from anyone by force, or accuse anyone falsely, and be content with your wages."

Some other verses that might be helpful...
Mt 5:45
Mt 6:9

You can take this moment to make it formal, even though it might seem awkward or "not real." The people who read these forums are very real, and will pray for you and join in the excitement.

If you'd like a more tangible declaration, then you can ask most pastors in your area if they have a baptism service. Some will ask that you have a meeting first, so they know you're both believing the same thing about baptism and conversion.

I could write out a prayer for you to follow, but I have pasted one that others have used, as a general guideline. There are no perfect words to do this -- it is a matter of making this determination in your heart. Between you and God.
[FONT=Arial, Verdana, Helvetica]“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.

I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward.

Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”

Sorry I wrote so much for you to read. That is my own weakness needing a change.

Just posted in the wrong forum I think... I want to accept Jesus, please help me.

Realize your human nature of being a sinner who sins. Understand that Jesus came to the earth from Heaven to help us sinners. He taught us how to act and behave with each other (good and bad people). In this teaching, we were to be a new being following his pathway that he laid out for us, even through his death. The new being (born again) is possible by condemning our old self through confessions of our sins to God & also to our new family from God (spiritual church) and being born again is possible through accepting the Gospel of Jesus, of his death & sacrificed blood to make us innocent of sin before God. Jesus' pathway for us is to live a life of holiness only possible through being a being of compassion and love (being filled with the Holy Spirit and obeying our Lord's teachings). The Law of God is alive for Christians and dwells within them, as Christ spoke, the Law is love (love your Father in Heaven and your neighbor). This Law is the will of our Father in Heaven and dwells within our every second of time and every fiber of being, now and forever (Jesus doesn't change nor God has any shadow). This Faith of ours is from our hope through Christ and trust of him, so we obey his words alone (to obey the will of our Father in Heaven). Your faith is very personal yet public. You walk with God, through obeying Christ and accepting him and the Holy Spirit who comes to dwell with you and help & teach you all that you need to know. Jesus told us to baptise new believers and so we are baptised in our Faith.

Don't be swayed over by the constant barriage of rules and regulations over your faith with your Father through Christ & the Holy Spirit (many try to be leaders, yet we have one already, Jesus Christ). The spiritual church is united. Be found in it by holding close to Jesus and this wonderful freedom that he gives you. If you obey the teachings of Christ and follow him, you are part of his spiritual church (those who obey Christ alone and follow him).

Welcome to your new family. Please read of Jesus' life and words and those of his disciples in the New Testament. There are modern day writers that have endured for Jesus and have been blessed by the Holy Spirit with wisdom and guidiance for the church. A couple that are helpful in spiritual growth are Tom White and Richard Wurmbrand. Suffering for Christ like the Apostles and disciples helps us to become closer to God. To be hated by the world because of our love and compassion (following Christ), allows us to tune out the world and to be near to our Father and his will for us.

There are plenty of Christians who can help you and will, just look into them to make sure they are truly following Christ. All over the world are planted bad seeds (children of Satan)(ones that can not be holy, follow Christ or obey Christ's knowledge to us: his Father's will (Jesus' teachings)).

I hoped that I have helped you some. May God bless you and his Spirit dwell within you forever. Remember to always confess your sins. Showing the light of God, and your will to follow him, destroies the evil one and his claim of you. Being a new Christian is very serious, for human nature will try to take your new freedom and get you to lust and sin. Don't. It is simply amazing how vulnerable a new Christian is towards sinning again & being swayed away from his freedom (obeying & following Jesus & the Holy Spirit). Giving up selfishness and lusts by replacing them with the nature of Christ in you is paramount for your salvation. We still live in the world, have wives and family and work & learn to make a living, only we live our lives out holy and staying only within the teachings of Christ as our Faith & hope. Welcome to the spiritual church of Jesus Christ.

Remember that nothing replaces or is greater than the words of Jesus Christ. Obey his teachings and find the greatest hope and joy that is possible on earth. Don't rely on theologies, but instead remember that the Holy Spirit, that is given to you, is enough and sufficient for you to instruct & help you and guide you to the Father through Jesus Christ.

I wish that it weren't so complicated. I will just say follow Christ only, be holy and loving, remember to confess your sins and have faith & hope in what is coming by God's hands and through Christ Jesus. Love you brother.

Accepting Jesus into your heart is not a confusing thing - Jesus made it very simple for us - All that is required is to believe and repent.

Just ask Jesus into your heart and be Lord of your life - repent of your sins and your name is written in the Lamb 's Book of Life - you are a Child of God.

Just get in the Scriptures and read the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - you will get a good idea of how to live and what God expects of us.

There will be people giving you a lot of rules to go by - but the main thing is to talk to Jesus. The Bible tells us He is your friend, just talk to him like a friend, you don't have to be in church, on bended knee with Bible in hand to talk to Jesus - just talk to Him, ask Him questions, the Holy Spirit will lead you and He will never lead you in the wrong direction. The Bible says that my sheep hear my voice - that little tug at your heart will tell you which direction to go in.

Just grow, talk, praise, worship and let the Joy of the Lord shine through you - you will be a great witness - God knows your heart and don't get bogged down in all the legalism of the do's and don'ts that some people will put on you. Some churches are so busy telling you what you can't do, that they fail to tell you what God can do.

You have made the most important decision of your life - enjoy your walk - your walk hand in hand with Jesus is a beautiful walk.

Is it ok to eat normal meat i.e. meat that has blood in?

I have recently converted and have spent my time reading the OT and NT and this subject is a little confusing. The OT is very specific on what you can and can't eat. In the NT it mentions in a couple of places how it isn't what enters your body that defiles a man it is what come out of his mouth that defiles a body. This suggests you can eat anything. However in the book of Acts Chapter 15 verse 20 it says about not troubling the Gentiles who are turning to God (about the Law of Moses) but it then goes to say that Gentiles however should not eat any food that is ritually unclean because it has been offered to idols.....or has been strangled.....or any blood.

To me then only Halal or Kosher meat has no blood in it yet reading the other Christian blogs on this matter it seems that to eat halal meat is eating food offered to other idols. Doesn't islam though worship the same God? they just don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God?

So in order to follow the NT completely can I eat meat with blood in or do I eat Halal or Kosher?

Thanks

Just posted in the wrong forum I think... I want to accept Jesus, please help me.

On forums you will always get various opinions, and I see you have received many here. I will give you another perspective to consider.

Some say you don't need to receive Jesus, just start trying to live for Him. That is not scriptural nor salvation. The Word of God always speaks of believing and receiving Him. You must have that personal relationship. "He that has the Son has life" (1 Jn. 5:10-13). Go into your "closet" --secret place (Matt. 6:6), as God says and speak to Him. Tell Him you are receiving His beloved Son, the Lord Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you thank the Lord Jesus for saving you and go forth with Him, He will ALWAYS be with you. That is scriptural. Look up always and be happy in the Lord.
