  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yesterday, Luci had 2 kittens in the box near my door. She will not stay in box to keep kittens warm. She acts like she didn't know what to do and/or knew she was preggie. I put her in the box and tried to put the kittens to her nipples, but she jumps out the box. I went online to find out how to care for newborn kittens.

Can anyone give me any advice? Why does Luci hate her kittens? I don't want them to die and I will try to care for them, but I'm not mom cat.

First of all, is your cat an indoor cat? If she isn't, maybe she is scared of having to be inside all the time.

Other reasons could be like you said, that she is not sure what to do. Once the babies cry a little, the instinct in her should tell her that they need something from her.

What you can do is make sure that you have a food and water supply by the mom. Keep her in one room as possible. Don't make any quick movements, and try to ensure that other factors such as noise, other animals, people, etc don't really come in to see the momma cat.

When my cat was pregnant and gave birth she was still quite young and for the first little while this happened to her as well. She had a little of 3 kittens her first time around and was scared. The more I made her feel at home the easier it was. I also got to placing the kittens right on her. With enough time, the kittens and her got along fine.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Oh and the other thing is, do you know for sure she has had all her litter? If not, that could mean trouble for the mom if she hasn't had all her kittens yet. Two kittens is a small litter. Maybe give a quick call to the vet like I did when I was watching the kittens be born!
