• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Whenever I'm happy for any reason a thought comes into my head saying "oh, you be alone forever and you should give up" and it's throws me into a deep depression. I'm basically depressed 95% of the time and I always feel alone. I have accepted Christ and I pray every night to him.
I know I shouldn't worry about this but I'm 17 and I've never had a girlfriend. I look really young for my age and I feel like nobody treats me with any respect. I just need some help here. I'm already taking 100mg of Zoloft every night

Well Adam I can tell you many, many people, young and old, are suffering from depression. If you read the depression forum you'll find many people who are really struggling with this issue. Through mutual understanding & support we encourage one another. Keep coming here and you'll make some friends. There's young people in the depression forum, quite a few I think from what I've seen. Trust God, try to take it one day at a time and just let the people here minister to you.

God bless

Our thoughts contribute to our depression. Whenever that negative thought comes into your mind that you'll always be alone talk back to it and tell it that it is just not true and keep reminding yourself that it's not true. Negative thoughts are often not true and come from depression and make it worse too. Changing our thoughts by self positive thoughts back to it can help you to feel better. Medicine alone won't cure depression. Praying for you.

It is good to hear that you talk with Jesus He can be our best support ever. Keep reminding yourself that the negativity of your depression needs to be overcome by the truth of God's Word.

Seek Him in all things and share all your thoughts and feelings with Him, He knows how to gain victory of darkness, this is what you need - His Victory - make it yours.

Psalm 34

I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all;
he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.

Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
The Lord will rescue his servants;
no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

Yeh I had depression when I was younger. It was bad but the thing is it passes. It basically comes in cycles.

A tip: Just take it easy and flake out in front of the tv. I wouldn't isolate myself though. Try getting out a bit too.

As regards girlfriends, I wouldn't care too much about that. Sure most men don't have girlfriends anyway until theyre in their 20's.

I've dealt with depression my whole life. Comes and goes about 5-6 times a year. What I can tell you is that it will get better. And if Zoloft isn't helping tell your doctor. Also girls are better to date the older they and you get. Don't rush or force anything.

Respect is earned, but remember, Zoloft wont get rid of depression totally it might help you with symptoms of it but once you stop taking those pills they will come back.

Listen to your depression, your hurting on the inside over something and it is best for you to let it go!
