Briefly - I've been involved in establishing Christian radio here in Australia for about 5 years now, in Oct, we started broadcasting on a temporary licence, but without warning the aust. broadcasting authority just called for full time license applications, they're due in by 25th June this year! yes, that's quick, and there's a HUGE amount of work involved in applying - and we HAVE to apply, if we don't get this - we're off air - that's it.
I should state that in Australia, Christian stuff in general is pretty "unwelcome" in a lot of ways so to have this opportunity is truely amazing. There are a few Christian radio stations around the country now, but there's nothing remotely like this in our near our area.
Please please please help me in praying for things to go smoothly, this is such a mega opportunity for us to spread the encouragement and hope we have in Jesus Christ. IT's a huge mission field and an awesome chance - we can't afford to lose it.
OK - after being given the impression that the authorising body wasn't goign
to be granting any permanent licences in the near future, we were all prepared to put in an application in a couple of months time to renew our temporary broadcasting lincence. then today - just three weeks after we were told it waan't going to happen, the ABA called for licence applications - what this means it that by the 25th of June !!!!! we have to have a licence application complete and submitted, i can't begin to get across the amount of work this is, it's a HUGE burden to get this done. Please please pleas pray for everyone involved, the people doign the application, mostly Allen and Deb - people like myself who will be doing some stuff but mostly taking up the slack up keeping the station running and doing the work they wont' be able to do while this is going on - please pray for the people who get to make the decision as to whether or not we get granted the licnece (this is our ONLY chance - we fail this and we're off air for good) - and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray that we'll be flooded with support letters and people signing up as members in the next week or two - it's vitally impoartnat as "numbers" really matter to the govt. department we're dealing with - we need to get the message out, but more imporatntly we need to get people off their rear ends and show their support for us - in a hurry! - people won't do this on their own, I think they're gonna need prompting from the Holy Spirit to respond and do it quickly. Please also pray that there are no other organisations that suddenly jump out of the blue (as happened with our last application) that want to compete for the license as that will make things way way more difficult for us - there have been no other stations doing test broadcasts in this license area - but if someone else decides to jump on the band wagon at the last minute it may cause problems for us
Of course, there's nothing to stop you guys writing us a support letter yourself, just sayin why you think the christian community radio is a good idea.
