  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know that recently I have asked for prayer, but I am really asking that you will continue to pray! As a spirit filled Christian, I have a real problem with smoking. I have now been told that i've had my first warning about this from our pastor. I am praying about it doing what I can about it but still can't beat the habit. If I continue to smoke I will not be allowed in the meetings, even though I dont smoke in the meetings. I have to keep my temple clean and i'm really struggling, please pray that I will not have any cravings and the Lord will just help me stop immediately.

Thank you

That is a bit harsh for your Pastor.. yes smoking is a sin.. and destroys the temple.. but all have fallen short of the glory of God.. If we are going to keep anyone out of our meetings for their sins.. well none of us could enter if the truth be known..

I will pray for you.. and I encourage you to believe you already have the power to quit.. don't try to stop in your strength.. You cannot do it..

But as you say.. You are spirit filled.. well there is your answer.. God will do it.. He knows you wish to stop.. Stop struggling with this sin.. you have already died and been set free.. Spend time learning about who you are in Christ.. and what He has done for you... Realise you have been set free.. already.. and believe it!! And the less you worry about the sin and the more you think upon what Christ did for you.. the victory will come.. Has come already!! Amen..

Dear God, I pray for Im revived.. Lord bless her.. for she truly wants to give up.. I pray her Pastor loves her smoker and all and that You touch his life and make him see the error of his ways.. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.. I pray this habit stops by Your power.. and with no effort at all by Im revived!! Bless this sister as she is free through Christ.. from all habits of the old life.. Therefore we say Im revived is in Christ.. she is a new creation, the old has passed away.. and the new has come!! Smoking is gone for that is of the old nature!! Freedom has come this day.. Praise the name of Jesus.. Amen and amen

Love to you from a sister in Christ!!!

Amen, I agree... You can quit smoking and you should. However do it for God and yourself. The people that you join in meetings are not without their sins and I think it's wrong to reject you on the basis of something your trying to give up.

In any event i'm praying that the Lord gives you the strength. You can do it! :groupray:

Lord help Im-revived to quit smoking and that she will lean on you for support and guidance in order for her to do that. Help her pastor to support her and not to chide her out. That she needs to keep her body clean as her body as well as our bodies should be clean as temples. Amen.

I pray, Lord, that You'll help Im-revived kick the smoking habit she's struggling with.

It does seem a bit harsh to keep you out of meetings because of smoking, while other sins aren't, apparently, worth warning people about.

I think this is really harsh of your pastor. We all have certain things in our lives that we struggle with, different temptations. I'll pray for you and for your pastor. We are told to come to the Lord as we are - not wait until we're perfect, because that's not going to happen. All things are possible with God. Hold close to Him and never let go. And if your pastor feels that this one particular sin should keep you away from meetings, maybe you should be out looking for a new one who will support you in your struggle instead of making threats. You'll be in my prayers.

Very well said Teri. Thank you! I was about to say the same thing. And I think that if a pastor is so concern about this, why doesn't he pray with you? That's what I don't understand. But I pray that God will deliver you from this habit. And don't be so hard on yourself, because you are struggling with this. Like Teri says, we all have our own struggles. And one without sin, cast the first stone. You just keep striving, pressing forward and trusting in God. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Praying for you!
