  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You folks know I spend a lot of time in GA. It's sometimes difficult for me to not want to "grab them" by thier lapels and shake them. For example...

When I say the "Normal Christian view is..." on a given subject they never pause to ask or consider that it may not be my view of things. That I am, in fact, challenging thier perspective.

This small detail is often missed in many conversations from both sides...myself, I'm ashamed to say, included.

I don't know too many folks from Georgia - but I've never had that reaction to the few I do know;)

Seriously - some of the ideas that folks profess as doctrine are pretty "out there." I'm astounded by some of what passes for theology. And people eat it up. There are days that I truly worry about the future of the church in the US. Overall, I don't think we're prepared for the day that we are truly challenged.
