You have seen it before, you know the guy who walks down the hall and gives you a pat on the back and offers a kind question..."How are you doing...man" where you simply answer.."Im doing pretty good."
As he walks away you gather a sense of obligation coming from him, he only went out of his way because others were watching and well you looked like an easy target.
Im talking about the Christians who say one thing..and then as soon as the door closes their lives go to a different directions.
We all struggle and we all fall down once in awhile, and that is to be expected. Perfection is not a requirement when God is in control of our lives, however we are supposed to be something. We are supposed to be real.
To me real means a Christian who is willing to admit he has problems and he is willing, although its progressive, to change his ways and gradually become the man God wants him to be. Being real means that you reach out to others because you want to, and not because you are obligated. Its one thing to say "God bless you" and really mean it, but its another to say it with no reason behind it.
I think we all fall into that trap. The trap where our real Christianity becomes a ritual we perform every Sunday and Wednesday night. We go through the songs and listen to the sermon. Maybe its because we become so used to it or maybe we are just bored with it. It happens, our faith becomes a plastic faith.
However, the person who says they are a Christian yet goes out the door and lives a contradiction, they are the ones I get angry with. Where is the heart, where is the passion?
In college here at Liberty University (Jerry Falwell country) you see alot of fake Christianity. Its hard to believe, but people act Christian because it is the popular thing to do. Leadership is just a stepping stone, the RA position is just something to go for because you are looked at as a spiritual leader.
Maybe its youth or maybe its pride, whatever it is it needs to go. Jesus didnt die so we could live a lie.
