I know this is hard for some of you to believe, but I can be a bit stubborn at times. :holy:

When I was in college, I was devout in my religion. I had risen to the level of being an invited youth conference speaker by the age of 18, etc... One day, I came across a campus group called "Maranatha" on the brickyard of NC State (go Wolfpack!) University...

Long story short: I was a thorn in their side. I participated in public and private debates with them defending my religion... I put up a fight when two students came by my dorm room to share the gospel with me... I joined a hall Bible study and purposely quoted from certain books that were in my Bible... they never relented... the gospel was continually placed before me...

I did not get saved for another seven years... the seeds planted by those faithful servants continued in my heart and eventually forced me to investigate the claims of the Bible... while teaching a high school level Religious Education course in my religion, I was converted to Christ...

The seed planted had come to fruition... some day I will meet those faithful students in glory and thank them... Keep on keeping on! If this dyed-in-the-wool religionist, apologist and teacher can be felled by the faithful preaching of God's word, anybody can be saved!

Keep PLANTING THE SEED!

Thanks for the story bleechers. It was very encouraging.

Am I to assume your former religion was Catholicism?

I guess my only "contrarian" point would be that while many under the banner of Catholicism do not have a relationship with Christ and are in need of evangelism and salvation, there are those in the CC that have a wonderfully vibrant relationship with Christ and the Word. I believe that those non-Christians in the CC can become Christians through the CC or through a protestant church. I think the same could be said of many protestants in protestant and Baptist churches.

Not trying to antagonize but merely stating my beliefs.

Thanks again for your sharing. :)

Unbelievable.........Someone told me today that it takes most people hearing the gospel 10 times before they accept Christ. Anyone know about this?

I remember a few of the first times I was witnessed to. These guys didn't even bother with what I already knew they just continuously said stuff like, "Hey have you ever read this in the Bible...." or "What do you think about this passage....". It was scripture after scripture that tore down the walls that I thought I was safe behind. I started to wonder at times when I was alone... what if.. I'm wrong. The belief that the Bible was the absolute Word of God was always in my heart and mind..but when I started to read it and have it read to me (places and verses I'd never seen before) I started to realize that something was seriously wrong. So they planted and they watered, and watered, and watered, and watered and God finally in His own time gave the increase. I wasn't saved around those guys in particular it was a whole other family that saw me, a rough and tough skinhead on my knees in their living room, but those first ones planted the seeds.

Believe it, I'm personally glad that they were faithful to the Lord with you and didn't back down. We need to hear these stories. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the encouragement. We plant, we water, but only God gives the increase! Heck, I hope you bump into one of those fella's down here on Earth, I know there would be some Hallelujah's going on then!
