Hi there,
I'm from East Devon - if you get the chance you should come and visit some of the coastal towns here, like Beer and Sidmouth - they are really 'olde worlde' (especially Beer) so would certainly cover the historic angle, plus would be a lovely day out at the seaside :) There are plenty of bed and breakfast places and guesthouses so you'll not be short of somewhere to stay overnight if you're planning a small trip :) (The prices are rather acceptable too if pennies are an issue :) )
Wherever you plan to go try and find the local tourist office websites first, as they will give you lots of useful information on attractions, directions, contact details, opening times, cost, etc etc.
Hope you have a wonderful visit :)
God bless,
Carly x

ah soo many places to see, all sound great.. try make it all over the place *gasp*.. think i'll try get all the old castles/palaces, wonderful beach views and mountain views out the way first. then work on the rest..

warriordonkey: tourists that i bump into over here tell me that they believe Melbourne is the best Oz has to offer.. only other places ive been is sydney and the gold coast, i dont recomend sydney, my opinion is they are soooo rude and very impatient i had a rather bad experiance there. the Gold coast is great, got adventure parks all that stuff, and the best beach i have ever seen, the sand is soooooo soft.... very much worth a vist. melbourne is good, but weather can never make up its mind. its a very sports orientated place. other cool places are not that far away. i'll be happy to help you out with any more info you would need.

barnabas, i really like the comment 'my new croc dundee friend' i wish i was that brave... i really dont take much offence to anything so its cool.

are there any places where you can see re-enactments of historical stuff, or theartre resteraunts, that have that sort of travel back in time feel? if that makes sence?

Hi Commando

Thanks for the advice about where to go in Oz  , may take your advice and head out to Melbourne as i have friends and family there. The only thing that puts me off is the weather but hey it can't be as changable as it is here in Sheffield.

Good place for re-enactments that i've been too is Edinburgh Castle, had a great day there!

Thanks again for your advice :D

Hi Commando

Yeah we have wireless internet, there are several companies that you can get internet from with different deals. There is Virgin (used to be ntl telewest), SKY and others. Though you will more than likely need a router to go wireless.

My personal wireless network is now with Virgin and is 54.0 Mbps. I get my internet in a package, i get digital TV, telephone and internet for £30 I have got a router so i can use my computer anywhere in the house.

Hope it's useful!

yeah all info is helpful. i was kinda thinking more mobile/wireless.. as in doesnt matter where you are (as long as there is coverage.) you can be on the net.. travel is looking more and more likely now, starting to build up courage to leave family and friends... just a matter of bookin the tickets. but i better get my act together as its only like 90 days away that i plan on leaving.

I thought Aussies automatically got jobs in bars- seems like every pub round about has its token one.

Come to Edinburgh, it's much better than London- much more compact and with a cooler castle. Not sure if there are tickets left for the Tattoo, though.

Oh, and if you want an early experience of paradise, make sure to visit God's Own Country- Co Antrim, N. Ireland ;)

awwwww..... i just recieved news that made me think twice bout my trip....... a position has come up in a Christian book store over here, my friend is basically a manager there..... so i would probably hav no trouble securing a job there..... i really wanted to get a job there, cause i think i'll enjoy it..... but, the UK one the contest... i probably wont get another chance to go, and especially to work there.... but i guess the book store would have positions available later, if i decide to come back home, who knows what can happen... just thought i'd share my little drama...

You might want to look into visiting Lindisfarne, otherwise known as Holy Island, it has a fascinating history.

Other than that I would just say visit the north of the country, we're far friendlier than those southerners! :D

To put my pitch in for my hometown, I would recommend Newcastle-on-Tyne and the county of Northumberland, a beautiful place!

would support destinations such as northumberland and durham. loads of historical and beautiful places, stuff to see and cheap cost of living. Also leeds, the armouries museum has medieval reanactment . easy travelling on train up and down the east coast including scotland . local reeanactments societies have websites so check them out.
have a wonderful time:wave:

Check out Harrods, theres a great lebanese restaurant I think it's called the isabella or ishabella -- Lebanese cooking that is well worth a try, we always go there.

Most of the stuff is not cheap -- you can always get it cheaper over the net but its great to go there for the total shopping experance I suppose

Use the Egyptian escalator - it reputably cost over 20m!!! and appreciate the stone decor etc...

There's never a dull moment in London so enjoy yourself :)
