I just downloaded this work and it's an easy read, solidly Baptistic and Calvinistic. I would recommend it to new believers.

In my opinion, it's important to discover, dust off, and re-print these historical works by Black Calvinist authors. So much of historical Black Christianity is all but forgotten put away in closet, that Black people may not be aware of their historical roots in Christianity. I can see where some Black Western people might think of Christianity as a "White man's Religion", but Praise God that is not the case.

Exactly. I'm excited to read it!

I've recently started attending a predominately black Baptist church (Anglicans on this forum and in the local congregation turned out to be WAY too Liberal) and find the worship to be lively, bordering on Pentecostal (no pretend gifts being exercised) but the preaching is baptistic and Calvinistic.

The folks who attend don't even know it!

That was fast. Does this mean we'll be seeing you in the Baptist section again?

It's fast but not fast enough to make my head spin. I began attending in January but I guess I was just fooling myself...there is no place in Anglicanism for orthodox Christians. My Reformed Baptist convictions were too strong to ignore so I had to walk. It became clear when the priest asked me to consider "Holy Orders," that would mean performing gay weddings, etc and I realized how out of step I was from Anglicanism, I was romanticing the past and ignoring the present. Will I post in the Baptist forum? Only if you need me.
