A great band, although I am more familiar with there first two albums than with the subsequent two. I think they just have a really good sound, sharp tight riffs and drums and Brian Molko's vocals work really well with their style.

I found out about Placebo just as their first major release album, self titled Placebo, came out. The first album is one of the few albums I considered perfect, along side with their second album, Without You I'm Nothing. WYIN got really good early praise and the first single Pure Morning helped that album with sales here in the States. Black Market Music seemed a bit of a departure from the previous 2 albums but was still excellent in my opinion. Their latest Sleeping with Ghost is kind of so-so with me still at this point, it just hasn't grown on me with the speed the others did. Hopefully anyone who picked up Ghosts got the bonus disc with all the cover songs on it, Where is My Mind is one of the best covers I've ever heard.
Top Five Songs:
1.You Don't Care About Us
2.Lady of the Flowers
3.Scared of Girls
4.Special K
5.Bruise Pristine.

What no Come Home or Teenage Angst? Bruise Pristine is pretty amazing, the drums on it are astounding. I was so impressed with the first album when I first heard it. I love the way it starts with such an in-your-face drum intro on Come Home

Yes I do love Come Home, but I tried to get a general top 5, I could have easily done the whole first album. I think lyricaly Placebo and WYIN is the best Molko has done, I'd love to see them do another album with lyrics like those. Simple and effective lyrics at their best on those two. Lady of the Flowers has a line that gets me everytime I hear it, "She stole the keys to my house, then she locked herself out".

Did you ever see the movie Velvet Goldmine? The band had a spot in the movie in some club, the whole band is in the scene but Brian Molko has the all the "up close" shots. I think they did a T-Rex song.

Never got round to seeing that film. Someone told me that Ewen Macgregor takes all his kit off in it, that and Eddie Izzard is in it too.

Yes right on both accounts. The only reason I ever seen that film is because it was released a month or two before Star Wars EP1 came out and at that time I wasn't familiar with Ewan works so I rented it. I was very shocked to see his portrayal in the movie considering in my mind this was Obi Wan Kenobi. Not exactly what you'd expect a Jedi Knight to be doing. A decent film though, and I've read that it's loosely based on David Bowie.

Ah yes all of those are songs also, Allergic(To thoughs of Mother Earth) almost made my top 5. I was looking at the offical Placebo website and I guess there is a live DVD available for Region 2, glad I have an all region DVD player. The specs on it look pretty good, 5.1 SS should be really nice. I guess a live DVD will have to do since I highly doubt I will ever see them live.

I saw them live in 98 just after Without You I'm Nothing was released, they played pretty well, I seem to remember they played Teenage Angst in a totally different style, it may have been slowed right down or jazzy or something but I don't recall exactly. Though I do remember the bassist coming on for the oncore wearing a dress.

Yes they are abit "girly" aren't they? When I picked up the latest cd Sleeping With Ghosts I noticed Brian had cut his hair and wasn't wearing as much makeup. A funny story about Brian, I had this picture of him as my wallpaper my senior year and my dad walked into my bedroom one night and was chatting with me and as he left he noticed it. He looked at me and said "that's a weird picture of Krissy" I had to explain to him that the picture wasn't of the girl I was dating at the time. I was so embarassed. The only thing Krissy and Brian had in common was the long black hair but I guess my dad just assumed when he saw it. I'll try to find the picture and post it, one of my favorite Placebo/Brian pictures.

That didn't take long to find, but now that I see it I have no clue as to what my father was thinking, no even a close resemblance. Now I'm really glad I never told her about it.
