  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

'Pizzagate' gunman dies refusing to disarm: Police

The man who in 2016 showed up to a popular pizza restaurant with a gun, claiming there were children being trafficked in the basement, died in an officer-involved shooting on Thursday outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, according to authorities.

An officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle after observing that it belonged to Welch, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, the statement said.

During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Welch was armed. Officers called for him to drop his gun, but he "failed to comply," according to the statement.

"When he opened the door, the front seat passenger pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it in the direction of the officer," he said in the statement, referring to Welch by his position within the vehicle.

His statement continued: "After the passenger failed to comply with their repeated requests, both officers fired their duty weapon at the passenger, striking him."

Americans shooting each other to death is hardly a news item. You haven't even defined the ammunition used or the exact make of weapon used or it's specific technical classification. And anyway it's well below the threshold of a mass shooting so what's the big deal? And anyway, he had a history of mentalism so the police are justified to shoot him dead. And anyway he's allowed to have a gun and saying he's not infringes his rights I expect. And anyway the cops told us exactly what happened so where's the beef?

I'm buying stock in Guns as we speak.

I was sorely tempted to reply to the thread about the start of his 15 minutes of fame. But yes, I honored this last bit of violent stupidity with its own thread.

Obviously. He was not shot to death by police

In this case the person shot had committed a rather notable crime, though he was himself not notable.

Probably a semi-auto 9mm handgun. That seems to be what cops use these days.
And anyway it's well below the threshold of a mass shooting so what's the big deal? And anyway, he had a history of mentalism so the police are justified to shoot him dead.
He must not have been very good mentalist if he didn't see this coming.
And anyway he's allowed to have a gun and saying he's not infringes his rights I expect.
He was a convicted felon in violation of his probation. I guess he didn't have the right to possess. Was most likely committing the additional federal crime (beyond the one he was already sentenced for 7 years ago) of "Felon in possession".
And anyway the cops told us exactly what happened so where's the beef?
Don't think the cop had beef with him. He was just another guy with an arrest warrant and one that was dumb enough to pull a handgun from his jacket during a traffic stop.
