CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So? He wasn't even charged with anything. It's hardly news-worthy.

Um, he was charged, and it is quite newsworthy that someone would discharge a weapon in a restaurant to investigate an alleged crime based on a fake news story.

Me too. I was quite confused by one who was going off about it as though it was generally accepted knowledge. It wasn't until the recent Reddit "Pizzagate" incident I had any idea what the heck the back story was.

Firing your weapon, getting arrested and charged... Nope, didn't happen, it's a non-event.
Correction, Pizzagate is a non-event as it never happened, the man shooting up a pizza restaurant because of said non-event, that's news. What's more, the pick for national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was propagating that lie. You want to be involved in national security and you can't tell a fake news story from a real one?

Edgar Maddison Welch of Salisbury, North Carolina faces felony charges after he entered the family-friendly restaurant on Sunday afternoon with an AR-15 rifle and a handgun, D.C. police say. Witnesses told investigators he fired three shots with the rifle and pointed it at an employee.

His father’s name is Harry Welch Jr., –who is also credited in one his son’s film work. His dad, happens to be a former police officer, firearms instructor and expert witness on firearms.

Certainly not. You have to believe the lies you are told, but you should not act on them, only skew your personal views and normal actions according to them.
Like when people think that abortion doctors are killing babies, but don't go to the nearest abortion clinic to stop the mass murder by any means neccessary.

And that's the problem. The people who buy into this conspiracy stuff and really BELIEVE it, and get worked up to the point they think they need to take a gun to an innocent pizza shop to do some "investigating", aren’t the brightest tools in the shed to begin with. We know that. Yet people are still happy to get them irate with lies so long as there's profit to be had.

There's nothing fake about the nuts and bolts of the "pizzagate" story unless we're supposed to disregard it simply because it was uncovered by using wikileaks.
I've read some of the few media stories about it and have seen no attempt to dissect and debunk the original story.
