I've probaby played Pirates more than any other C64 game I had (over a hundered). I remember looking at this game in Toys-R-Us thinking it looks boring. The only reason I bought it was becuase it made by Micro Prose. I enjoyed every game Micro Prose produced for C64. Surprisely Pirates was the best of their games with Gunship & Silent Service a close second. It's amazing how much Mirco Prose could do with only 64K.
If I remember right the time period 1620-1640 was my favarite in Pirates. Hopely the new Pirates will be done as well as Mirco Prose did in 1987.

PIRATES! is still rated as one of my all time favorite games. I have included the new vesrion on my list of games to buy this year. Actually, I have been looking forward to that game since I first read a small paragraph about it in Jul-03.

Must... resist... nostalgia...
I used to play this game religiously in its Apple II and Nintendo manifestations, as well as Pirates Gold a bit later on (I think we had it for Mac). My brother will soil himself when he hears there's a new version coming out... I imagine we'll both buy it, since we wouldn't want to fight over who gets to play next like we did 15+ years ago! :p
