LOL, Johnny Depp's witty lines were my favorite part of the whole movie ("Human hair...from my back!" LOL, man, that kills me!). I thought it was really good. And, my, my, my, Orlando Bloom is a nice looking man...but, I still like him better as an elf (yes, my husband knows I have a huge crush on Legolas). That little, dead monkey was pretty creepy, though. I'd watch a sequel, if the cast stays the same.Pope Gonzo said:I didn't see PotC for a good while(when it was released on DVD I saw it with some friends). Unfortunately for the movie, it possessed the one thing that most ruins films for me: hype. When movies get over-hyped, I become extremely critical of them. Usually it pays off, and PotC didn't let me down. I didn't find it all that spectacular. It was all just a bunch of flashy scenes put together with some far-too-expensive special effects. I understand completely that when watching a film, one must have a willing suspension of disbelief, but that only goes so far with me.
Had I seen it before it was all hyped up, I might have enjoyed it more. But I don't see how Johnny Depp's performance was spectacular at all. For one, the amount of make-up they plastered him with was ridiculous. For two, was he supposed to constantly seem drunk? For three, one character can only have so many witty/clever lines... when he or she has too many, something appears seriously wrong(see second point made).
Bottom line: too much hype, too much shock and awe, not enough movie.
