  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I didn't see PotC for a good while(when it was released on DVD I saw it with some friends). Unfortunately for the movie, it possessed the one thing that most ruins films for me: hype. When movies get over-hyped, I become extremely critical of them. Usually it pays off, and PotC didn't let me down. I didn't find it all that spectacular. It was all just a bunch of flashy scenes put together with some far-too-expensive special effects. I understand completely that when watching a film, one must have a willing suspension of disbelief, but that only goes so far with me.

Had I seen it before it was all hyped up, I might have enjoyed it more. But I don't see how Johnny Depp's performance was spectacular at all. For one, the amount of make-up they plastered him with was ridiculous. For two, was he supposed to constantly seem drunk? For three, one character can only have so many witty/clever lines... when he or she has too many, something appears seriously wrong(see second point made).

Bottom line: too much hype, too much shock and awe, not enough movie.
LOL, Johnny Depp's witty lines were my favorite part of the whole movie ("Human hair...from my back!" LOL, man, that kills me!). I thought it was really good. And, my, my, my, Orlando Bloom is a nice looking man...but, I still like him better as an elf (yes, my husband knows I have a huge crush on Legolas). That little, dead monkey was pretty creepy, though. I'd watch a sequel, if the cast stays the same.

Love, Heather

Pirates of the Caribbean was actually a big surprise in my book and is possibly one of the best films of last year. For those that don't know, they're working on Pirates of the Caribbean II. Here's hoping that they'll continue with a great storyline.

Did you like Pirates of the Caribbean?
Do you think Pirates of the Caribbean II will do good or flop?

God bless!

:angel:

Yes I am a huge Pirates fan. I eagerly look forward to the second installment which I think will be even more grandiose with greater amounts of action and special effects. Of course, for Pirates 2 to work Johnny Depp will have to continue his fine performance, which I'm sure he will without a doubt. The rest of the cast is changeable! For instance have some fun casting someone else for the role played by Orlando Bloom in your own mind!

I loved the first one. I just watched it yesterday actually! I hope the second one is good too. But how could you go wrong with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom? I thought Johnny was great in it. He cracked me up with all those lines! He looked pretty good too! :blush:

I LOVED Pirates of the Caribbean! And i still do! :D
Johnny Depp was hilarious! And i think he was cute too in his pirate clothes! ;)

I want a sequel really badly, but i don't think it will be as good as the first one, unless Johnny Depp is in it again. :D

I agree, if the sequel is going to work then Depp has to be the lead man again. Otherwise the film will drag on its heels.

yeah, there's going to be a POTC 3 as well...don't get me wrong, i LOVE potc, but...3 movies? that's a bit exaggerated...i'm just afraid they're going to mess it up

ah, and the thing about bringing back Geoffrey Rush's character...did you all see the scene at the very end where Barbossa's monkey steals a medallion from the chest? well, it was his monkey, so that kinda makes him be the one stealing it, which means he can't die...so the monkey got the piece of gold in time for Barbossa to live...and that's how it is

oh yeah...i know someone that somehow (don't ask how, i have no idea) had access to the script from a few months ago (it might have changed though) of POTC 2...and she said that Bootstrap Bill is going to be in the second movie...there were some other spoilers but i can't remember them :scratch: so that's all i know...hee hee

Hi. I know alot of people are excited about the POTC2 auditions, but I just found this news:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am an associate of the company behind one of the scriptwriters for Pirates of the Caribbean 2: [title undisclosed for security reasons]
ANYONE WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE THE CASTING ADDRESS FOR EITHER OF THE SEQUELS IS LYING.
A casting director HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED as yet, so there is ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION about auditions.
For your information, THE SCRIPT HAS NOT BEEN WRITTEN. The scriptwriters are currently busy with another project and work on POTC will not start until MID-2004 OR LATER.
PLEASE STOP MAKING UP RUMOURS BECAUSE IT WILL LEAD TO ACTUAL GENUINE INFORMATION BEING BELIEVED WHEN IT IS ANNOUNCED.
Also, please note that any letters or emails to The Casting Couch Ltd or Sande Alessi (casting director of the first film) WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISPOSED OF.
We don't care how much you want to be an actor; whether you know all the lines verbatim to the first film is not grounds for being cast in the sequels; you may be Orlando Bloom's biggest fan, but NONE OF THIS MATTERS.
TO GET A PART IN THE SEQUEL YOU MUST BE REPRESENTED BY AN AGENT WHO IS CASTING EXTRAS FOR THIS FILM. PRINCIPAL ROLES WILL NOT BE CAST BY OPEN AUDITIONS, CASTING CALL ONLY.
Please spread this message around, tell all your friends, post it on other boards like this one. Posting on message boards like this WILL NOT get you a part. Calm down and stop spreading rumours.
Thank you very much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope this helps and PLEASE don't be mad at me for clearing up this mess.

God Bless,
Arwen*Evenstar

whoa, i somehow missed that bit with the monkey and medallion. now to watch the dvd again :D

i can see Bootstrap Bill coming back, maybe... since he too couldn't die, when they dropped him overboard with the cannon he could've just gotten loose and walked/swam away. when the curse was lifted he would've been fine as long as he was above water by then ;)

i've heard Kiera Knightly's character will also be returning? not sure how i feel about that, she makes me feel like a dirty old man :blush:

YESYESYESYESYES!:bow:
i desperately want to be cast in it, but i've only had 1-2 years worth of acting. consindering i'm up against people who have acted from age 6, my chances are SLIM. But hey- nothing can stop me from dreaming:prayer: ! i'm 12 years old, caucasian with shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes. i can't recite shakespeare loud enough for an audience to hear, but i believe i can... do potc II. plus, then i'd be with orlando bloom (my heartthrob :blush:)... and in the caribbean... oooh...
all i know is that there haven't been any casting calls, and various sources state that the auditions will be either in miami or new orleans... what about agents?
i've written much more than i ever intended to...
bye!:angel:

An actor's views is irrelevant to his/her acting. A person can be a good actor and a satanist for all I care, and I will still appreciate good acting. Then again, I'm not one to follow stars or whatever. A person doing their job well is more important.

Sorry, but that was in reply to a post on the first page to someone that said tehy didn't like Depp beacsue of his views.

Disney are going down hill if you ask me. Pooping out a sequel as soon as they see a success. Ah well.It was a good film, how could it not be popular with orlando bloom and johnny depp in it. I bet 70% of the audience were women.Not that thats a bad thing.

Im curious, what exactly are Mr depps extreme views? just wondering.

but does anyone know where i could get an orlando bloom/will turner hat?

um, the eighteenth century?
