  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I recieved notice from the superintendent of schools here in the city that they will be giving the children the swine flu vaccine. Here is a letter I wrote to him.

Dear Mr. Adams,
I am writing as a concerned parent of a child who attends the city public school system. To be exact my child attends Hodgen Elementary College Bound Academy. My concern is this, I received a letter which states, “When the H1N1 flu vaccine becomes available for distribution to school districts in Missouri we will coordinate with the St. Louis City department of Health to provide vaccinations to the targeted populations which will probably include school age children.”
Mr. Adams do you realize that in 1976 when the swine flu was going around at that time they decided to vaccinate? That vaccination is linked to more deaths then what was linked to the flu itself. Why? It was an additive called Squalene. These deaths showed a neurological disorder in those that died. That disorder is called, Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). What makes this worse Mr. Adams is most of it’s victims already had compromised immune systems due underlying medical conditions such as asthma, heart problems, diabetes, autoimmune diseases and obesity.
Mr. Adams my concern is for this reason sir, my son was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. Not only that sir but during his first heart surgery the doctor pushed his right lung to the side in so doing it collapsed. Now they have gotten that lung back but it is damaged in fact to look at the x-ray of his lung one would think he has pneumonia when in reality it is the damage they are looking at. Not only that sir but in his “good lung” he has developed asthma. Meaning that due to his immune system not being as strong as it should as a result of these conditions the H1N1 vaccination could easily be deadly to him. Mr. Adams we have fought for 4 years now to keep our son alive through all of this. Considering all he has been through this far he is in fairly good health, but Mr. Adams I refuse to allow a vaccination like this be his death.

I would ask of you Mr. Adams to reconsider this action and allow the parents to decide for themselves on whether to subject their child to this or not.
Mr. Adams in conclusion this vaccine has deadly potential and should not even be out for public use. But since it is out it should be choice not mandatory. Not forced. Mr. Adams if you do insist on this then I will be forced for the safety of my precious son to pull him out of the public school system and make other educational arrangements for him. Please sir for the sake of the children reconsider.

Sincerely,

Wouldn't it be like other vaccinations? You could obtain medical or philosophical/religious reasons? We have "mandatory" vaccinations now but many people obtain waivers for them. Making it mandatory makes sure that low income people can get access to them and it gets things done. It still gives those that want to opt out a choice through the waivers but puts a light under the fire of those that would disregard the need out of sheer laziness.

BTW...we're neighbors. I used to live in the city and now I'm in South County...still a south city kid through and through though.

It "might" be like other vaccinations, but in some states (through legislation) they're tyring to make it Mandatory, as in No waivers, No exemptions, Period. That would be Tragic to so many people, including children.

I think your letter was wonderful Renee! I hope he listens...

Many states are making it mandatory - it falls under the pandemic flu guidelines, therefore no exceptions other than by doctor's written note and self-quarantine. :sigh:

Gladly we're in Germany and I can skip out on that. We'll not be getting it in this family.

Renee, that was an awesome letter. You go girl!

Right now many vaccinations are considered mandatory in my state. However, there are medical and religious/philosophical waivers allowed. Where is the info that states that mandatory means something different when applied to this particular immunization? Because right now, in our state, mandatory means "unless you get a waiver". In this case, her son would easily qualify for a medical waiver and if not, could use a philosophical waiver.

I haven't seen any info suggesting that H1N1 was going to be treated differently than other mandatory vaccinations. I vaccinate my children but have quite a few close friends that do not...including a friend who's husband is a chiropractor and they are active in some group that is opposed to vaccinating children. None of them seem concerned about the laws surrounding H1N1 and I know, if they had info that said it would be forced,no exemptions....they would be irate.

Massachusetts is the first state to be close to forcing the shot. And like HS said, it falls under the Pandemic flu guidelines, so there would be no waivers. It's being quietly pushed... Do some reading online and you'll find lots of info.

Go here: Where You Live

Then click each and every state. Where the "Pandemic Flu Plan" is mentioned, is where the rules and regulations come down. Massachussetts is one state making it mandatory for everyone, or a fine and forced quarantine. (Been following the news very closely since April)

Alabama will be making it mandatory unless you have a signed off doctor excuse, and you're expected to quarantine yourself.
