Welcome to Song Cluster, the game where a good ear is everything.

Song Cluster​

The premise of the show is that you are given a one minute (1:00) video/audio file and your challenge is to correctly identify all the songs and the artist who sing them. That’s about it!




Oh, I should probably mention that there is a small catch …

all ten songs are top 40 songs and …

they are all playing at the same time.


Now that you have a general idea on how the game works, let’s get to the rules for you to play:

1. Listen to the minute long video posted below.
2. Try to correctly identify as many songs and artist as you can.
3. Post your list of guesses on this thread.
4. Any CF member correctly identifying all 10 songs and the artist, in the first 24 hours, wins 100,000 blessings (10,000 blessings for each song).
5. If no one correctly identifies all ten songs and the artist …
... a. The first member with the most correct guesses will win 1,000 blessings for that day.
... b. The song most commonly guessed will be removed and an updated song cluster will be posted on the following day with the remaining 9 songs and the game restarts for 90,000 blessings over the next 24 hours.
6. Each time a song is removed from the Song Cluster, 10,000 blessings are removed from the prize.
7. The game continues until all 10 songs and the artist are identified.
8. Each CF member can make only one guess per day.
9. Edited posts are ineligible (you can’t use latter guesses to pad your own guess).
10. The game will run Monday – Friday and break for holidays.

I was going to wait and start this on Tuesday, by I had some free time today and was able to finish editing the video clip and putting together the artwork. I believe I’ve got most of the angles figured out but I encourage and welcome any and all feedback on how to make the game more fun. So if you think of something that might help make it better please let me know. Enjoy.

BILLY! See, now that count's as your list and you only got one. You got a three day weekend to listen to it before the new Song Cluster will be put up. I know you could have done better, but one guess per day and no editing that guess.

Anyway, I've been thinking about this one for awhile now. I wanted to make it tough because if its too easy it's not really worth playing. I'm really curious how far it'll go before all ten songs are guessed. If one of my games last more than 5 days I consider it a hit. Time will tell if this one works or not.

Well, I see that people will be able to build of other people's guesses. for instance Billy heard a particular tune . I heard another one. The next person can combine mine and Billy's guesses and win. Is that your intent?

See that's part of the beauty of it. You risk giving other people help when you post early BUT if you wait till later, you run the risk of NOT being the FIRST person to get the most extensive list. So there's definitely some strategy involved. How well it works out is yet to be seen, but I think after a few times through most of the bugs (if any) will be worked out and it should prove to be interesting.

Obviously I created it, but after hearing it I was sure that four songs would immediately jump out at people. However, maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part.

I know you said edited posts are invalid but what if I listen to it again and hear another song that is not on anyone elses list? Still a no no?

Also, when will the game be stopped?

Anndd (one last thing, promise) my only concern is when making the song cluster, making it too hard where you can barely hear any recognizable song. Especially for the first or 2nd time playing the game.

Because this is the pilot to the game and also because its new, I'll make an exception and allows edits on the first round. That should help everyopne on this first dry run.

Also, when will the game be stopped?

There will be a conclusion to the game each weekday (minus holidays) around the same time of the OP. For example, tomorrow at about the same time I made the OP, an updated Song Cluster will be posted with nine of the original songs still on it. The one that will be removed will be the one most frequently guessed and the member to guess that song with the most correct guesses will receive 1,000 blessings. The game will fully be completed when all 10 songs are guessed.

And (one last thing, promise) my only concern is when making the song cluster, making it too hard where you can barely hear any recognizable song. Especially for the first or 2nd time playing the game.

As a matter of recourse, the initial Song Clusters will naturally be hard but as the number of songs in the Song Clusters is reduced it will get increasingly easier.

Keep in mind that this is all theoretical and that's why I'm running this as a pilot. I want to let it play out the first time through and find out where the bugs are before making any major changes. If it proves to hard changes will be made like providing clues to the songs or making the songs genre or decade specific. For now, the previously mentioned change is the only one I want to make until we get a few more days into it.

Here is a couple of clues for two of the harder to hear songs in the Song Cluster that have not previously been guessed:

The first clue is for a song comes from a band that formed in 1967 and their song featured in the Song Cluster made it as high as number 8 on the US charts in the late 70's.

The second clue is for a song that comes from a band formed in 1989 and their song featured in the Song Cluster made it as high as number 14 on Billboard Hot 100.
