  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't think there is any direct prohibition. For what I'd say, IMO, there are two aspects here. The first is the OT prohibitions, which were tied up with idol worship. I don't believe that is a direct issue today, though I suppose there might be some religions which do use tatoos, I think the intent in getting the tatoo or piercing would be more important.

Something tasteful in terms of tatoos or piercing might not be a problem - but IMO should wait until adulthood, even ear piercings.

I think the problem comes in the second aspect of what the Bible says about how we are temples of the Holy Spirit. That we should act in moderation in most cases, and not cause someone else to stumble by our behaviors and choices.

I guess the key words here are:
Intent - is this to make a bad statement or shock someone?
Moderation - less is more.
Tasteful - will you be proud to sport this piercing or tatoo for the rest of your life? Are you setting a bad example for someone else?

I actually have 4 tattoos, my belly button pierced, and 5 ear piercings... I'm thinking about getting my nose done.. But OUCH!

I don't think tats or piercings have anything to do with a persons inner thoughts and prayers.... Sometimes jewlery or tats are GREAT conversation staters about your faith!

What ever you decide, especially a tat.. Remember that it's something that will stay with you for the rest of your life!!!!!

There is a mentioning of tattoos in Leviticus 19: 28 (don't know how to do the bible quote thing), but I believe it refers to tattoos as part of a heathen culture, and thus refers to not carrying outward signs of another religion.

Here is an entire thread on the subject: http://www.christian-forums.com/t79900
