Ok, so today is Pi Day. (The math term. 3.1415926...) I was wondering if anybody else's school did anything special for it.
We celebrated yesterday at my college, since almost no one has Friday classes. The faculty wore T-Shirts with the first 100 digits of Pi on the back. And there was a contest for the students to see who could recite the most digits of Pi without screwing up.
It was actually fun. I signed up for the contest just for the fun of it and actually won! Got the first 23 digits before messing up. So I got a "Pi" plate with the Pi symbol in the middle of it, and the numbers around the outside edge (as many as would fit). A new graphing calculator, and a gift card to buy a pie. So yeah. I guess boredom can pay off. (In high school I would sit there and try to memorize Pi off the poster on the wall instead of listening in Algebra class.)
Here's a website about it if you have no clue what I am talking about: www.piday.org
So did anyone else do something to celebrate Pi? If so, what did you do?
