  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought you said I didn't define it?
You did, at least to some extent, but you based your definition on other lacking definitions. So when you didn't want to define those you've pretty much made the first one useless.

I didn't suggested anything about memories, at all.

Sorry to say, but I fail to see how you answer my question.

Maybe I should rephrase:
Why do you limit god by saying(writing) that he needs the memory stored physically somehow?

If he is omnipotent there is nothing to stop him from whipping every memory into existence from nothing.

So feel free to define what you mean by "will" and "mind". But if you don't, you're still leaving your definition of "soul" with gaping holes.
I did not give a definition of 'soul' -- please go back and look at Post 98, which I'm sure you're trying your best to make me regret I posted; and it's not going to work.

Go badger someone else.

Actually you provided with a definition:
"In tripartite theology, the soul is the part of man's cosmology that houses the mind, the will, and the emotions."

You defined what area it's applied in (tripartite theology), what part it is of something bigger (man's cosmology) and what it contains (the mind, the will and the emotions).

Though it leaves me with the questions what the definition for tripartite theology is (sounds like the trinity though), what the definition for man's cosmology is and what the definition for mind and will is.

Definitions aren't that complicated

Well, someone needs to make up my mind, eh?

Here, you're getting into what we call deep theology.

You did attempt to define 'soul':

You replied to this post...

Unless you define "SOUL" then there is nothing more to be said. You are obviously basing everything on pure speculation and hearsay. Science does not work that way.

with this...

In tripartite theology, the soul is the part of man's cosmology that houses the mind, the will, and the emotions.

which is a definition.

No, I won't stop badgering you. I consider it community service to chat with you.

Let's go deeper, and define the words in your definition. I think that most everything you attribute to the "soul" can be attributed quite easily to the "body" in the brain.

Soul / Psyche

1. the human faculty for thought, judgment, and emotion; the mental life, including both conscious and unconscious processes; the mind in its totality, as distinguished from the body.

2.The mind functioning as the center of thought, emotion, and behavior and consciously or unconsciously adjusting or mediating the body's responses to the social and physical environment.

But can you distinguish the mind from the body? I argue no. Thought, judgement, and emotion are all processes by the body (more specifically, the brain, obviously). Destruction of neurons results in loss of these processes...they are completely dependent on the brain...

That link isn't working for me for some reason, but I'm assuming you're trying to define the "soul".

The soul is the eternal aspect of man. The physical body being the outermost portion, the shell, tent, clay, skin, etc that is shed. "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." (2 Cor 5:1)

You cannot know that there is an eternal aspect of man.
