  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all,
I'm wondering if there are any PHP programmers on site. I've been building a forum for my church and have run into a problem installing a rep points mod.

Could someone please refer me to a known good mod they've used for their forum? One that's already updated? I'm a newb at PHP so I'm still working with scripts. Not writing my own code.

Btw, the web server is a windows II box. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks in advance.

have you checked the logs for any errors, and if so, what errors are you getting.

Also I believe that phpbb has a debug / error reporting mode, have you enabled that to give you more info to what is / is not happening ?

Thanks for the response. I don't think I enabled the log reporting function. In any case I restored the original files and undid the damage. I'm not going to attempt the modification again until I have ample time to go through each line of code I'm adding twice. Then double checking once more. I don't like it when stuff doesn't work. arghhh.

Hey this is just my two cents, PHPbb is a great forum but be careful installing too many mods, I've crashed and burned my forum one too many times I finally took it down and could never really figure out what mod it was.

VBulletin appears to be the best in my opinion, of course its expensive. But you will get the best support with your PHPbb issues on the PHPbb website forums - trust me they are busy little mice and help you in a day maximum everytime!
