I do not understand your point here, God chose for every reprobate to be born, doesn't mean God wills that his people should follow after them, pattern our thinking after them...

You believe that all philosophers born before Christ are reprobate and therefore going to hell?

Surely you have read Proverbs, there were wise people among God's chosen people before Christ.

The question should be, were those philosophers among God's chosen people? There is no evidence, nothing which indicates they were in Covenant with the God of Israel.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Paul knew that the weakness of God was incomprehensible to Romans indoctrinated in the martial virtues. The very idea that a God would be glorified out of pain and humiliation and death - this was a joke. But in American evangelical culture the same mistake has taken root in nationalism and militarism and justifications for torture, from Christians. We should know better.

There's plenty of syncretism here. There are teachers offering "Biblical" support for supply-side economics and anarcho-capitalism. Conservative pastors read management gurus and run their churches like businesses.

I would offer some kind of reply, but would be steering way off course from the discussion here. Instead I'll offer the following:

The Greek philosopher Aristotle is credited in history as having created the discipline of logic, or as I prefer to consider it, having discovered the formal laws of logic, and being the first to pen them in writing. This may be good so far as it goes, so far as men go, but the underlying philosophy of Aristotle is that of pure rationalism, which rests on human autonomy, and therefore a foundation built on sand, as other philosophers have so eloquently brought to attention.

Who are your favourite philosophers? I love the German Idealists - Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schopenhauer.

Do you read much philosophy?

Tell me, does your philosophy govern your theology or does your theology govern your philosophy?

Having asked this, my favorite philosopher and only philosopher is Jesus Christ.
